Back to school is my favorite time of the year...

I am one of the few who look forward to going back to school after summer break. I get a honeymoon period feeling again on the first day. It's so exciting. The teachers who come in are happy to see each other after having the summer off, the students are happy to be there for like a week before grunting at us and there's just a glow to the building. I hope this feeling lasts the year. I have completely overbooked myself this year and need to keep a positive attitude as I go through it! Wish me luck!

Frustrated!!!!

So we have been in attorney review for a week already now. Our attorney has been waiting for the sellers attorney to return his phone call since Friday afternoon. I'm in a panic. I don't know if this means we should begin looking again just in case or if their lawyer is just slow and we should be patient.

In the mean time the buyers of our home want to close like tomorrow! They said they will have a rate lock in problem if they do not close by the end of this month!!! We all signed the contract that said we would close in 90 days... not 30! They want to close early and let us rent the space form them for the rest of the time! I don't think so! What does that make me like a squatter on my own property? Does that mean they can come and go as they please while we live there?

I'm getting really nervous suddenly about this whole situation. I feel like I need a young and old priest here!

UGGGHHH... more waiting?

I am so not good at patients when waiting for an answer! We now have two offers out on two different town homes! We said to ourselves, what if the one we want does not come through. The seller has an incredibly unrealistic idea of what her home is worth. It would never appraise for what she wants! It turns out many of the people selling in the development where we are looking bought in a really high priced community or built a McMansion and are all looking to sell their town homes for unbelievable amounts of money! None of them listed in a good market, they have to take this into consideration. If you over spend on one end, you can't always pick it up on the selling one, especially now! So here I sit waiting and avoiding working on my law assigment!

This whole buying process is almost as frustrating as selling was! =( We put in a bid and then a few counter offers on a town home we have been courting for at least a month now. The realtor called ours today to talk about her client. My realtor said she has a very high bottom line. We don't think we'll be making another counter offer on this place. We are going out with the realtor tomorrow afternoon to look at choice 2 again to make sure we want to move ahead on this one. I feel like this is more exhausting than my job! I have no idea how the rest of the world buys and sells while working. I think the only reason my husband and I have sanity right now is because I teach and only work an hour a day over the summer. Keep your fingers crossed for us please!!!

So we made an opening offer on our hopeful new home on Saturday night/Sunday morning. We are dancing around our house and answering every phone call, even the obvious soliciters. Neither of us are good at waiting, and this seems to be the hardest wait yet! So that's wait number one...

Wait number two comes with a rant, and I apologize for that in advance. My poor cellphone is dying. Last week on Monday I went to verizon because the phone would not even turn on, after an hours long wait the man called me from line and told me to purchase a new battery. Of coarse, there was none of my battery in stock, and I waited for it to come in the mail until Friday afternoon. I missed so many phone calls and emails!!! When I finally got the new battery, it was not charging! Mu husband has the same phone and had no trouble charging the battery that way, so that's what we have been doing for about 48 hours now. This morning I went back to my local store, saw the same man and asked him to look at my phone again and to refund me the money for the battery since it obviously was not the problem. The man said it's a phone issue, but again I need a replacement phone and he had none in stock. He said I may get it anywhere in the next three weeks! THEN, he wouldn't refund the money in his store, he said no where in the entire store was there cash. Since I had paid in cash they had to refund in cash. He told me to come back later or go to another store! I asked him how in a retail store there could be no cash? I let him tell me stories for a few minutes before I felt the snap internally and told him I had worked retail as a manager for a few years and explained how customer service worked and how the return system did as well. He still refused to return me the money... so I went further up the road to the next store, which is 45 minutes away. They returned the money immediately and were apologetic about the ordeal I had been through. I still have to wait forever to get my phone, but at least I have my cash again!

We also had a few few minor issues with the IL's this weekend, but they're the regular mess. I know when I go there for my weekly visit to expect some type of drama form them, so I can deal with that. I need some good news! C'mon realtor and get back to us with happiness!!!!

damn rain!

We are like a week behind schedule on our list of to do's from the buyers. Everyday the mason can come to fix the front steps, it rains! Go figure! He's scheduled to come today, but it rained this morning and we're on flash flood warnings here in NJ all day! We keep letting the lawyer know what is happening, but I'm afraid they are going to think we're making excuses! Keep you fingers crossed that he can come later today!

Excited but sad at the same time...

We accepted an offer on our home a week ago. Everythign is going well so far, knock on wood. We have been searching for our new home as well, we found some great homes in our price range. This is all the exciting and good part, right!

The weird part is how I feel about my home now. I feel a disconnect with my house now though. I am still cleaning daily, but my heart is not in it anymore. I used to have a great feeling of pride when looking at our home. We bought it in such horrible condition, when we probably had no business buying a home at all. We completely renovated everything in the home. I am so proud of what we have done! I am one of those girls who was always out with one eye looking for something cute for my house. I feel like I am in a place where I can't look for home things or plan, because we do not know where we are landing yet.

So now, I have been looking at all of the home bio's you lovely ladies have been making and thinking I will set one up for wherever we land next. I want to also put the work we did to our first home up too. I am not sure how to go about this though. Does anyone have suggestions?

After one 1 1/2 years on the market, we got and accepted an offer!!! I am so very excited. This has been a moment that felt it would never come. I know that the next 88 days will bring new things.

We went out with our realtor to look at new homes last night and saw some ones with great potential! We saw one home we really loved that needs a little TLC. I have never seen so many mirrors! I mean there were mirrors on everything in the front hallway including the walls, doors, ceiling and the back of the front door! It was like a fun house! Does anyone know if these would be hard to remove? We have a few more homes to look at still, but this one's on our short list. We just want to make sure that we are not getting in over our heads!
