Getting back to "us"

After a mostly successful visit from my parents, we're finally back to having the apartment to ourselves. It's nice to see people, and entertain, but it's even nicer to get back to being just the two of us. As Andy put it, we can "drink from the juice carton, eat from the pot and burp all the time now that they're gone." (Boy, that makes us sound like we have no manners. I promise, it's not that bad here; although I am still trying to get him to break some of those 'bachelor pad' habits. But that's another story.)

I've never been super-close with my parents; I always preferred talking with my friends rather than my family. And since we've moved across the country, I've put my energy into meeting new people, spending time with Andy, job hunting, etc. - not calling all the time and keeping up to date on all of the hometown drama. So I was really nervous about them visiting for a couple of days - what would we talk about after they'd given us the update? Everything ended up working out, and I think they enjoyed their stay. Now, I'm just hoping that they didn't give either of us their colds - it would be horrible to get sick for Thanksgiving!

Plus, now the apartment is completely put together, so I'm ready for any of my friends to come visit!
