Job Update

Posted Saturday, December 01, 2007 5:03 PM

So, I did a lot of thinking and praying about that job offer. And I decided to turn it down. In addition to getting Andy's opinion, I asked my mom and several close friends for advice. Everyone said that I shouldn't sell myself short and work for someone who had as little respect for me as the owner of this company appeared to. Plus, that whole not-compete clause really bothered me. 60 miles is a long way, and I don't want to be stuck working someplace for forever because I can't find a job elsewhere. (Or have another long gap in my resume if I left, for that matter.)

I also decided not to take the temp job, just because it would have interfered with my friend coming into town.

I feel very very blessed, as we're not in a spot where I have to take the first job that I'm offered. The right job's out there, and it'll come up in God's time. Until then, I'm going to do my best to be patient.

re: Job Update

I can totally empathize with you in this situation.  I am still working and whatnot, but I've been trying to get a new job for various reasons.  It really is a waiting game, but God already knows where I'll be and when.  ^^;;  That's good enough for me.  (Though I do still hope I get the job I recently applied for!!)

Best wishes in the job hunt!  It's very taxing, but it'll be better than you can imagine right now.  ^^;;  I'll send some prayers your way!

re: Job Update

Thanks for the encouragement - and the prayers! It's hard to be patient, but it's definitely reassuring to know that God's in control of the whole situation (because I'm sure not)! I hope your job search works out too!
