Taking a sick day

Posted Tuesday, December 18, 2007 12:25 PM

Well, I'm not, but Andy is. He woke up at 1 a.m. with an upset stomach and has been sick on and off ever since. I finally convinced him at 5:30 to stay home from work today - I don't think he'd get much done if he's running to the bathroom every hour. He doesn't feel feverish, or anything, so I'm guessing that it's not the flu - maybe it's something he ate? (Makes me nervous; we had the same stuff yesterday!) But I honestly don't have a CLUE what you're supposed to do for someone with an upset stomach. So, I've been searching for cures/remedies online... it's crazy what people suggest! (Mustard and crackers, anyone?! He HATES mustard. I'm sure if I gave him that, he'd just lose it all again.) I think I'll stick to the advice from the Cleveland Clinic's Web site and WebMD.

(Side note: It's so weird to see him sick enough to stay home from work - I've never known him to take a sick day, ever. I mean, this is the guy who went to work after getting his wisdom teeth pulled! I feel so bad for him!)

re: Taking a sick day

Dry toast or crackers and ginger ale were always my "comfort" things when my stomach is upset.

I've never heard of the mustard and crackers thing!

I hope Andy feels better soon!

I agree with Heather... or you can do Sprit. Usually I eat a bland soup for lunch time/dinner time. The mustard and crackers thing, I'm not so sure I would believe or try that... sounds like a prank to me! The petobismal pills work wonders too! I hope he feels better!

Poo.  That sucks he's sick.  I hope it's a fast recovery because it's the HOLIDAYS!

Thanks guys! He's feeling a little better tonight (enough where he says he's going to work tomorrow), but still nowhere near 100%. I hope it's quick recovery too - there's only 1 week till Christmas!
