Do you smell that?

For the last few days, I've noticed a strange smell - kind of like sulfur or rotten eggs - coming from the hall closet in our apartment. Our washer and dryer are in there, along with the clothes hamper, cleaning products, that kind of thing. I've always associated that smell with a gas leak, but everything in our place is electric. The weirdest part? It doesn't smell all of the time. I don't think it's the dirty laundry either. I don't know what to do about it. I guess calling the apartment manager would be the logical solution, but I don't really like the guy. Plus, we're going to be leaving on Friday and won't be back until New Year's day. I don't want the guy coming in here while we're gone! Maybe the smell will go away on its own...

There's also a strange smell in our fridge - but I'm guessing that it's from old leftovers, and I'll have to tackle that on my own! Ugh... it's one of my least favorite chores!

I'd definitely have the manager check that out, especially if you're going away... just to be on the safe side!  Is your dryer gas-powered?  (I don't even know if that's possible, but it's what popped into my head!)

I would call him asap, even if I didnt like him. If you leave your apt all locked up for 11 days and come back and the smell is still there, its going to be even worse and you'll be breathing it more than you already are. Good luck w/ that!

Eww, I might throw up at a smell like that.  Lately my dogs have been smelling like fish to me (I know, gross) but that must just be a pregnancy thing because my husband says I'm crazy because he doesn't smell it.  I'd have them look at it.  I wouldn't want to come home to that smell after the holidays.

re: Do you smell that?

I had a smell like that once at my own place when I was single and couldn't figure out what it was and it only smelled bad off and on.  Then a plumber came to fix bathroom pipes.  Seems that since I'm a big chicken and afraid of real mouse traps - I know it'll spring shut on my fingers - that I used the "poison" and a mouse died under the floor of a bathroom vanity.  Gross, I know...but that's what it was and I don't use poison anymore.  Now I have a big brave husband to set real live mouse traps if needed.
