Yay, Weekend!

Seriously, it was a great weekend. Andy and I spent Friday night just relaxing, playing games and goofing off.

On Saturday afternoon we went for a walk in the snow, which was really nice. The weather was significantly warmer than it'd been most of the week, and the snow was falling in big, puffy flakes. I'm not crazy about driving in the snow, but I love how it looks, and it was so much fun to go out and play in it. (I'm sure I'm embarrassing to be seen with - I stopped at one point to make a snow angel.)

We had our friends Andy and Bethany over for dinner and games Saturday evening. It's great to have friends that are in the same place in life. We're both looking at buying houses, and so we spent a chunk of time comparing notes about the process.

And then Sunday was our big Super Bowl party. We ended up having 9 people show up, and I think everyone had a good time. I made Baked Potato Soup from AllRecipes.com, and it was pretty tasty. (I also managed to splash hot bacon grease on myself while making it, so there's a blister on my cheek, but that's OK. I'm such a klutz sometimes.) I ended up not making the bread bowls, just to save some time. One of the couples brought the game Settlers of Catan, so several people played that for most of the second half of the game. And of course, the Giants' victory was the perfect ending for the night. I was a Giants fan by default for this game - I can't stand the Patriots. They're poor losers, arrogant winners, and I believe that they're cheaters on top of everything else. And let's be honest, going 18-0 in the playoffs and regular season means nothing if you can't win the big one. As Andy put it, "second place is just the first loser." In addition, I'm a fan of Peyton Manning, and it has a trickle-down effect to Eli.

And it wouldn't be the Super Bowl without the ads. My favorite for this year has to be the Budweiser clydesdale training with the dalmatian. Aww....

Hopefully, this week is as good as the weekend was.

re: Yay, Weekend!

I agree with you on so many levels!  I'm a huge Peyton fan, and I just hate the Patriots (see my blog when I went to Buffalo for the Bills vs Pats game).  However, I'm not a big Eli fan.  I believe he's not great enough for a Super Bowl trophy (considering his brother is amazing and he just won one, and Dan Marino was one of the best and he never won one) and I'm still annoyed about his whole "I'll only play for NY and won't participate in the draft" nonsense when he graduated college, only because his dad and brother were big shots and he felt he was above the NFL draft.  I'm still so glad they shut out the Patriots.  I don't think there's such a thing as a perfect anything, so I'm glad we avoided the whole "perfect football team" references for life.

Glad your party went well.  I love the snow too.  Too bad we haven't gotten much, just cold weather, lately.

re: Yay, Weekend!

Hey, I love Peyton. :) But then again I'm from Indy. My friend from Chicago said to me, "how did you guys ever advertise anything without Petyon?" Cause he's everywhere, which is fine with me, he's cute!...But I had to say...the one with the dog and dalmation was my favorite commercial too!!!! I'm such a sucker for animal commercials, but that was so cute.
