Our "first" holiday

Well, our first holiday on our own, anyway. We went back to Ohio for Thanksgiving and Christmas, but since Andy doesn't get time off for Easter (and we since we don't want to use vacation time yet), we'll be on our own for Easter. So, instead of moping around about it, I'm trying to see it as an opportunity to start our own traditions and do our own thing. I've nailed down the menu - ham, cheesy potatoes, 24-hour salad, jello, cranberry sauce (Andy's request!), rolls, corn and pie. I know, it's a lot of food for just the two of us, but I really wanted the traditional meal. It'd be nice if we had someone to share it with, but all of our friends here are local, which means they're spending the day with their families.
Other than church and the traditional Easter dinner, I'm not sure what else to do - it'd be kind of silly to dye eggs (since we're not crazy about eating them), and I'm blowing our entire grocery budget on the menu, so there's not much left over for chocolate bunnies.
As weird as it is to go from St. Patrick's Day right into Easter, I'm glad Easter is early this year. For the last 23 years, we've combined Easter with birthday celebrations for me and my younger brother. At least this way, I only feel like I'm missing out on one celebration, rather than three. Of course, in a few more weeks, I'll be bummed out about not taking a trip to Grandma's for birthdays too. This part of growing up sucks.
My grandma is great though - she sent us a box last week with our "Easter baskets" in them. No baskets, just the goodies that would've been in them! We have no willpower though - all of the candy is gone already!
