A year later, and I'm flying solo.

Yup, it's our one-year anniversary, and I'm by myself all week. Andy had to go out of town for training for work (which is a good thing, since they don't send people to training too often, so they must like him. We'll just have to find some time to do something for our anniversary after he gets back (in between all the house stuff, going back to Ohio for a friend's wedding, the 4th of July, the EAA airshow, and yet ANOTHER visit by the in-laws).

It's funny, when Andy first found out that he was going to Minneapolis, he was bummed out about leaving. (He's a homebody, and I'm the one that likes traveling.) But from the sound of his last phone call, he's gotten over it. He had just gotten back from REI and was going to play basketball at the hotel, and he's planning on going to the Mall of America and Ikea later on this week. Of course, he's telling me this, and I have to get up and go to work in the morning. What a bum.

Things are going well with the house, I think. The appraisal's done, and the seller fixed the things we asked him to. So now, I think we're just waiting for closing on the 30th. I don't think I've written anything about the house at all, except for the fact that we bought one.

It's a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom Cape Cod house on a deep (for in town) lot. It has a 2 car detached garage. It's light blue, and has hardwood floors in the living room, downstairs hallway and one downstairs bedroom. Both bathrooms have been remodeled. The kitchen is kind of small (I'm concerned about fitting our table in there, since there isn't a dining room), but we'll make it work. The basement's unfinished and dry, which is a huge plus for this area. The upstairs is all one large bedroom, and it has a skylight. We're going to use that as our master bedroom, after we paint it, anyway. It's light pink right now, and I am NOT a pink person. I'm not sure what color to paint it though. Andy suggested red, but our quilt is gray, dark blue and dark green. I'm sure that'll be a fun trip to Home Depot... I can just see us arguing about it in the paint aisle. The lawn's a pretty blank slate when it comes to landscaping, which means I get to figure out just what I want to do. I'd like to put a patio in next year, but we'll see how things go.

Anyway, that's the latest. I suppose I should be productive tonight and do the dishes. I tend to be lazy about that kind of thing when I have the place to myself. (I also don't really cook while Andy's gone, but that's another story...)

Aw I'm sorry you're all alone for your one year anniversary...but it seems like you have exciting things happening soon for you two...maybe the anticipation of it all will help the week go by quicker.

Happy Anniversary!

I'm sorry your hubby is gone this week.  However, the house sounds excellent.  I hope the paint decision doesn't cause too much of a scuffle. :)

The house sounds awesome.  As for your husband, he went to Ikea without being forced by a girl!???

yeah my hubby's working extra this summer, and i tend to be pretty lazy about cooking. i do feel bad if i don't keep up on laundry and dishes, since he honestly doesnt' even have time to do them! so congrats on your house, i just went through all that! painting is always interesting, but i'm sure you'll find a great color. :)

Edmo - I couldn't believe it either. He actually called me and said it was "a fantastic store." At that point, I was pretty sure that he'd been abducted by aliens and brainwashed. :)
