Baby crawling = vacuum more and baby proof house

Ruby is finally crawling and really crusing around. While I am thrilled to watch my little baby scooting around the place, I'm also a little scared. We have so much baby proofing to do. How can I possibly protect her from bumps and bruises she is going to get while exploring everything? Just this weekend I caught her picking something off the floor and shoving it in her mouth. Upon inspection it looked like a really old cheerio, but I'm not sure. It looks like I'll have to vacuum the floor every night.
