Ruby hits the trifecta of fear

Well Saturday night we took her to watch fireworks.

Um, bad idea.

She was scared to death and hid her face as I covered her ears through the entire thing. I kept saying "Oh this one is pink, don't you want to see the pink one?" and everytime she would answer in a muffled, weak voice "No". By the time the fireworks were over her hair was soaking wet from sweating and clutching me like a rag doll.

Then last night she screamed everytime we tried to put her in her crib. I finally got her to calm down and said "show me what's wrong". She led us to the crib, pointed at it and said "IT BITES". Apparently we had forgotten that the previous morning she got her foot stuck in the slats in the crib and had a little bruise on her ankle from it. So now, thinking the crib bites her, she won't go near it.

Then to top it off, it started raining (thunder and lightening), which she is terrified of. So finally we all went to sleep in our bed, with her tossing and turning all night (even sleeping sideways most of the night) and kicking us repeatedly in her sleep.

Maybe tonight we'll just put her mattress on the floor and let her camp out.
