Mom is back in ICU

Well, we got a phone call late Tuesday night that Mom is back in the ICU. She is having difficulty breathing and all of her other long term illnesses are starting to take their toll. I went down to see her yesterday. The nurses won't even let her out of bed to take a shower because her oxygen levels drop so suddenly with the extra energy it takes to get out of bed. For now they are making her as comfortable as possible.
This was probably the first time I've seen her so vulnerable. When I walked in she was sleeping and breathing really hard. It reminded me of when I was in Grandma's hospital room, watching her die last January.
I had a really good cry on the drive home (it takes about an hour and a half to get to the VA hospital). Which is good because I was able to get it out of my system before I had to pick up Ruby.
Tonight Randy and I are going out to a show downtown and hopefully it will take my mind off of it.
