Thanksgiving at Grandpa Franco’s
Thursday was fun. We went to Randy’s dad’s house and ate tons of food. Ruby had a chance to play with all her cousins. I was happy to see her shy side stay away and she was ready to give just about anyone hugs. She also learned a new game from her cousin Adrienne-rolling down the hill. She would have done this all day if we let her, but we had to stop her when she rolled right through dog poop.
Last year it seemed like we hovered over her because she was just beginning to walk and we were terrified that she would fall down the stairs or pull on the dog’s tail. But this year was relaxing and we were able to let her explore without too much hovering. Although she did end up stuck on the top bunk of one of the beds and I happened to discover her waiting patiently for someone to come rescue her.
I missed Chad though and hopefully he is able to enjoy the holiday in Afghanistan.

Visiting Grandma DeeDee for Thanksgiving
Friday we headed down to Chillicothe to visit my mom. It was a little sad because we couldn’t take her out to lunch or smuggle in Thanksgiving food for her to eat. So we settled on hanging out with her and I was glad that Ruby was happy to play in the hospital room. Mom made me promise not to take any pictures, but I compromised and just took some of Ruby and Randy.

Hauling out the Christmas Decorations
Saturday we decided to put up the Christmas tree and haul out all of the decorations from the basement. We wanted to have this done before Sunday because Randy’s mom, Al, grandma, grandpa, Kara and James were coming over to make Christmas cookies.
Of course, had we known that we would have been completely exhausted and frazzled by the end of the day, I think we would have waited until next weekend.
We first had to go shopping, because our theme for the Christmas tree this year was cars, so we had to search for cars to hang from the tree and buy some baking supplies. Then we (well, Randy) lifted all the Christmas boxes out of the crawl space and we while he put lights up outside, Ruby and I took everything out of the boxes and got ready to decorate. Of course, halfway through putting the tree together, we realized that some of our lights weren’t working, so we had to go back to the grocery to pick those up. In the meantime, we were cooking a turkey in the crockpot and it was almost finished.
So after eating turkey, potatoes, and stuffing, we finished the decorating and cleaning the house. I was completely exhausted and Randy was too, but had forgotten that he promised the guys he would play cards with them. So off to bed I went, and Randy headed off to play poker.

Four Generations Baking Christmas Cookies
Sunday was a blast. Randy’s mom, stepdad, grandma, grandpa, Kara and James all came down to make Christmas cookies. We sent the limo up to pick them up (thanks to James) so that they wouldn’t have to worry about driving all the way down and back. We ended up making 2 batches of buckeyes, food for the gods, and some walnut balls. Ruby kept the guys entertained (well, her and football) and by the end of the day we had all eaten way to much sugar. It was kind of nice having all four generations in the kitchen at once.
Later that night, Randy, Ruby and I decided to make our rice krispy snowmen. They turned out pretty good. Even Ruby’s masterpiece looked cute.
