Contractions Contractions Everywhere, but not a Baby in Sight

Well last night was a little nerve wracking. I started getting my usual false labor contractions around 2pm or so. After picking up Ruby I laid on the couch and played with her. (Coloring with crayons is so calming). The contractions were still there. I thought it was unusual because typically if I laid down or drank a lot of water they would go away). After dinner I told Randy that I was just going to lay down for a while more because the contractions still weren't going away.
Fast forward to 8:30pm. Ruby is fast asleep and I am drinking water like crazy. Randy is timing my contractions (every 3 minutes or so). I tell him that we need to get the dishes washed because if his mom is coming over to watch Ruby while I go into labor, I at least wanted the pile of dirty dishes in the dishwasher. Then I tell him that I am going upstairs to get as much sleep as I can before we have to go to the hospital.
I fully believed that at this point I was in labor because those pesky contractions were not going away, they were every 3 minutes, and they were more painful. I was very nervous because I am just not quite ready yet. I still have so much more training to do with the girl that will be taking over for me at work and I still have so much more to do at work. I also remembered that while we had gotten the car seat out of the crawl space in the basement, we never actually installed it. I was secretly wishing for just one more week. (Ok, maybe 2 weeks. Maybe AFTER Christmas)
But lo and behold sometime between 3 and 4am they went away. Thank god, because I really wasn't ready yet.
Now let's just hope the little one can hold off for at least another week. I will be so much more prepared.
