GIRL!
Violet May was born on January 7, 2007 at 10:59am. She weighed 7lbs 9oz and was 19 3/4 inches long.
It all started Saturday night at about 10:30pm. I started having contractions that I thought were the regular braxton hicks contractions that I'd been having. Randy and his buddies were playing poker in the basement. Around 12:30am the contractions were getting pretty strong and had jumped to about 4 minutes apart. Instead of walking downstairs, I called Randy on his cell phone to come upstairs (I didn't want to freak out a bunch of poker playing guys by annoucing I was in labor). I told him that I wasn't sure if it was the real thing, so I was going to take a shower and drink some water and to check on me in about 30 minutes. So in 30 minutes I confirmed that we did indeed have to go to the hospital. Scott was nice enough to spend the night on our couch and watch Ruby until Randy's mom could drive down and of we headed to the hospital.
We arrived at the hospital around 3am, then around 10am I was given a drug to speed up my contractions. In 10 minutes I was ready to push (boy did that speed things up!) but the doctor wasn't there yet. Finally the doctor arrived and after 9 minutes of pushing (compare that to 3 hours of pushing with Ruby!) out came Violet May. Perfect and beautiful! The labor and delivery was so easy compared to my first I even said to Randy right then and there “I think I could do this again!” Everyone laughed.
