I'm writing this a little late. We celebrated our 5th Anniversary on Saturday (thanks to Slade for sitting with the girls). Being the low maintenance couple that we are, we went to Smokey Bones for all-you-can-eat ribs then walked along the water at Alumn Creek Dam (where we had our first date and where he proposed). Afterward we had a beer at the India Oak (an old dive bar that we used to hang out at when we were dating. It was a sweet trip down memory lane. I still can't believe we've been married 5 years and I especially can't believe that we've been together for 10 years! Time flies.

Last week we took Ruby and Violet to the Zoo. (They went with their friends Andy and Gabby). The weather was perfect. Then on Wednesday we had a playdate with Gracie and Tommy at COSI. This was Violet's first time at COSI and she LOVED it.

I love it when we have guests from out of town staying with us. Right now my brother, his wife and new little baby are visiting us from New York City. The baby is so adorable and it's kinda nice to have one that little in the house again.
A long time ago when we bought Ruby her big girl bed we decided to get her a full size bed. We figured that if anyone stayed with us that they could have Ruby's room and she would sleep with us. I'm glad we made that decision back then. Not only does it provide a little privacy for Chad and Angela, it also allows me to sleep right next to Ruby (which I confess is sometimes really nice). I used to watch Ruby sleeping when she was a baby and when I watch her sleeping now, it reminds me of those days. So for a little while I have a baby to fuss over and my own baby sleeping right next to me.
We also traveled to visit my mom yesterday. We had to drive 2 separate cars but I was happy to do so because these days we are stopping every 30 minutes to take a potty break. This was Mom's first time meeting Isadora. It was a little packed in her room at the nursing home but we all fit. I was actually able to get a nice picture of her and all the girls.

I'm so happy that the weather is starting to get a little warmer. Ruby wanted to ride her bike to the park so we all went and I was so suprised that it only took us about 10 minutes to get there. (must be that new bike). Violet had fun swinging and going down the slide and Ruby discovered what happens when you pedal downhill. It was a wonderful afternoon and I'm looking forward to more sunny, warm days.

Well in one little weekend both of my girls managed to make me teary eyed. Violet is now blowing kisses (with a huge mawahhhhh sound) and Ruby has her first big girl bike with training wheels. I can't believe how fast they are growing.

On Saturday we colored Easter eggs. It was messy but fun. Then before bed we had Ruby get a snack ready for the Easter bunny. (she chose salad) She also left him a pony to play with and the picture of him, Ruby and Violet. (just in case he forgot what she looked like, I guess).
Sunday morning was fun, she woke up and went downstairs and was shocked to see that the salad had been eaten, the pony played with, and there were muddy bunny prints on the floor! (LOL)
Oh, I almost forgot, we also got Ruby a bunny that clucks like a chicken. Normally this wouldn't be big news, but there is a funny story behind it. As we were shuffling the kids into the kitchen for breakfast I stepped on the new bunny that clucks and said "Ruby do you want this clucking bunny?"
Randy and I stopped immediatley and looked at each other and burst out laughing. "Do you want this clucking bunny?" HA From now on this is my new swear word. Clucking. HA

Violet has 2 more teeth (and chewing on EVERYTHING). Poor thing. As I was documenting these new teeth in her baby book I found myself looking back over her milestones. Her first solid food (squash by the way), her first smile, crawling, and walking. I think I will have Violet's and Ruby's first shoes dipped in bronze. I know it sounds cheesy but my baby shoes are sitting on my bookshelf in bronze and I feel like I have to do the same for my daughters. I feel the need to save these memories exactly as mine were saved.

Ruby was over the moon on Saturday when she had the chance to eat breakfast with the Easter Bunny. She even had her photo taken with him and gave him a big hug. She promptly told me that it was a costume. Even so, I think she was in love with him. Even Violet had a blast when the egg hunt began.
