34 week dr appointment

I just got home from the dr and it was a good appointment. She is already head and face down. I was sure she wouldnt have been in that position until a couple more weeks, but shes there now. Hopefully she doesnt flip at 39 weeks that would not be good.

Ive gained 3lbs and my dr is very happy. I am GBS negative! If you dont know what that is its Group Beta Strep this is what it is

Group B streptococcus (GBS) is a type of bacterial infection that can be found in a pregnant woman’s vagina or rectum. This bacteria is normally found in the vagina and/or lower intestine of 15% to 40% of all healthy, adult women

How is it treated?

If you test positive for GBS and meet the high risk criteria, then your physician will recommend giving you antibiotics through IV during your delivery to prevent your baby from becoming ill. Taking antibiotics greatly decreases the chances of your baby becoming ill.

For women who are group B strep carriers, antibiotics before labor starts are not a good way to get rid of group B strep bacteria. Since they naturally live in the gastrointestinal tract (guts), the bacteria can come back after antibiotics. A woman may test positive at certain times and not at others. That’s why it is important for all pregnant women to be tested for group B strep between 35 to 37 weeks of every pregnancy.

Its not a huge deal if you do have it, you will be given antibiotics while youre in labor, so it isnt passed to the baby.

I just didnt want any un-necessary iv's in my arm at the hospital, so this was good news for me. I also talked to my dr about getting my tubes tied. This is the last baby for me. Aaron and I discussed this months before I found out I was pregnant, and we agreed to this decision. They dont do it the old way anymore (inserting through the belly button) its an outpatient proceedure. She gave me a brochure on it heres the website about it

Its inserted through the vagina, 3 months post partum, and youre good to go the same day. Which is great because I was worried about how it would effect my ability to care for Alyssa, so now im not so anxious anymore.

So I had a good appointment, and ive had a good day.
