We are also paying off wedding debts and decided to pick a theme and just spend $50 to fit that theme. After throwing out some suggestions, we settled on the color red. I already have a list of little fun things that fit the theme "red". It makes the gift giving more fun when you put a little creative thought into it!

Hey there; I am also in the same situation.  My husband and I got married young and are tight on money trying to pay off bills.  It is also our first year being married on VD.  I don't know what kind of people you are but some suggestions may be to get a couples massage, or go out and buy a "special" game if you know what I mean.  That may be a nice surprise for him.  Buy him his favorite candy and a card?  Or even just making him a nice dinner and enjoying it with candlelight.  There's so much you can do, but as long as you are together nothing else really matters.

I bought him a card and a stuffed elephant (he loves elephants). We're probably going to do a candlelight dinner at home. Oh I bought some cute lingerie too! Maybe I'll wear it while I cook dinner. Hehe

I nice Valentines Day with DH would be: cook a romantic dinner with candlelight, drink a bottle of wine, watch a romantic movie and snuggle by the fire place :)
