As we journey through our new life together as husband and wife in Christ, I'll use this space to detail some of our happenings every now and again. It'll be so neat to look back on this to see how much we have grown together!

The "New" Me

Posted Wednesday, March 05, 2008 8:37 PM

Wow, this healthy stuff is crazy!  Since my last health-related post, I haven't really changed my eating habits, but I have added some stuff.  I guess that might be considered changing, but that's beside the point.  I eat some really nutrient-packed cereal in the morning with my orange juice, and since I eat a later lunch, I have a mini snack of some yogurt.  I also munch on my broccoli and whatever the fruit du jour is for me.  The result?  I don't crave my cookies and chocolates as much anymore.  I honestly never thought that would happen.  I crave more fruity stuff now, like some juice or some grapes, and that's totally awesome.

It's tough, though, because I need to be putting on a few pounds.  These additions to my diet are obviously not going to do the trick.  Our regular food is so healthy anyway, so it's been difficult trying to find non-lactose ways to put a few on.  I did go out and buy my Boost drinks again since that's what I've used for weight gain in the past, but for now, I am saving those as after-workout drinks since they have a bunch of protein in them.  We'll see.  I may just have to make it a daily thing again.

On a totally different note, my dear friend Sam called me yesterday!  I miss him and his wife so much (and their adorable baby!).  We talked about how my husband and I need to hurry up and have a little girl so we can start arranging her marriage to their son.  Seriously.  We'll just tell them, "Well, it's a big part of our spouse's traditions."  (My husband is Korean, his wife is Chinese.)  lol.  It would be awesome if they did get married, though!  Their baby is just so wonderful.  Always so happy, no matter who's holding him.  I didn't realize this when he was born somehow, but he was born on my husbands birthday!  It's totally a sign.

Oh, and I told him our choices for baby names (which I'm not really telling anyone), and he loves our girl's name but said our boy's name was a little "unique" for him.  It's actually just a name that kind of died out but was huge some time ago.  I expect to hear some not-quite-so positive feedback once we announce our son's name (because we totally need to have one to carry on the family name--but girl first to marry their son ^.~), but we are in love with it and just love the history and meaning behind it.  ^^;;

Anyway, that's it for now!  Back to work for me.  It's going to be a long one since I came in late.  Yay for snow.  -.-;

Aw, you have baby names already :)  My husband and I already have ours picked out, Ava Jillian for a girl, and we have taken a lot of heat for our boy's name pick, Gerard Mayer -Bot.  All the names have special meaning, except for Gerard.  Gerard is because Gerard Butler is hot!

re: The "New" Me

Congrats that you are doing well with your healthful self!  I made that a change for myself last summer when I was trying to get in shape for my wedding last fall.  It was great...hard to start, but once you start eating well and working out, it just feels so right.  My vice though, was caffeine (iced coffees from Dunkin Donuts) last summer, and of course, my beloved wine (a glass with dinner most nights).  I guess it's a little give and take.  Winter is much harder to stay on track, especially being in Chicago, but looking forward to spring and getting back at it!

re: The "New" Me

Good for you in taking on a more healthy lifestyle! My husband & I cut out alot of things that we enjoyed in preparation for our wedding, now if we eat anything fried or just "heavy", we get upset stomaches. I do still enjoy my sweets though, if you have any advice on how to quit those, I'd appreciate it. I quit smoking cigs about 3 1/2 years ago, and I swear that was easier than trying to cut back on some of the foods that I love! I'm really into cooking and trying new recipes, but some require less healthy ingredients.

Good luck with your baby names, are you TTC or already expecting? My hubby & I will probably start trying after our summer vacation. We have also thrown around some names, as well as have friends with young children that "need little friends or childhood sweethearts".

Good luck in continuing your healthy new changes (or additions)!

Come on, post your names!!!!!  Just kidding.  We'll post our baby name when we find out the sex.  Less than three weeks away now!

re: The "New" Me

Thanks for the comments, ladies!

MandyE-worth--Your names are so cute!  It'll be neat to see what you two end up settling on for a boy's name.  ^^;;

chi-wine-lady--Your vices do have other health benefits!  Coffee for the liver, wine for the heart...in moderation, of course.  ^.~

jsilvis--We hope to conceive in the summer time.  Ideally, it would be awesome if it happened on our anniversary trip in July.  *^^*  I just have babies on the brain like woh, though, so I type a lot about it.

For us, too, we can hardly eat heavy foods.  It just fills us up so quickly and leaves us feeling kind of blah.  As for those tricky little treats, I really believe people need them for the soul, if nothing else!  In fact, I had three cookies (smaller ones) right after I typed this entry.  XD  And I think you deserve those treats for giving up smoking!!

edmo--I'll post once we, too, have a baby and know the sex.  I don't know how soon we'll know the middle names since we are having his parents choose them, but we'll see!  I kind of do want to post them now, but I am trying to restrain myself.  XD
