With some job changes and moving, we're keeping busy!

Finally, Some Great News!!

I've mentioned before how my husband is reluctant to check the mail at times since it can be so heart-wrenching with waiting for news from immigration.  Today was one of the days he just couldn't bring himself to do so.  I had checked the USCIS website early this morning for processing times, but they still hadn't been updated since last month.  I had resigned us to waiting a couple more months based on the current times displayed, anyway.

Much to our utter surprise today, our interview notice came in!  He had dropped me off at home and was already on his way to work, but I called him before I had even opened the envelope and said, "HONEY, COME BACK HOME. IMMIGRATION.  IMMIGRATION!!"  He had me open it up, and sure enough, we are set to interview on May 9th at 12:30pm.  Finally!  We are just beyond ecstatic, and it couldn't have come at a more perfect time.  Thank You, God~!

It's the perfect amount of time for us to really organize the evidence supporting our marriage meticulously and pick out what outfits to wear.  ^.~  Of course, we wish it would have been months ago, but there's no point in focusing on that.

Oh, I am just beyond excited right now.  Come on, May!

That is so awesome, finally some great news for you guys... good luck with it all!

What kinds of questions do they ask you in this interview? I became a citizen when i was 3, so i dont know that i went through that process... i did get this little american flag though... hee hee...

I remember when my sister became a citizen.  It was on her first birthday.  I remember going into the office, but there was nothing tough about it because of her age.  I have heard that the tests that they give people in order to become a citizen are very hard, so hard in fact, that most born citizens wouldn't actually be able to pass the test.  I know I tried to take one of the sample tests online.  I didn't even come close to passing.

This is for his green card, and the interview is basically to verify that we have a valid marriage.  They typically ask us questions like how we met, maybe some favorites of each other, but mostly, they will ask to see hard-copy evidence, such as our wedding album, bank records, phone records, any leases or bills in both of our names, our tax records, etc.  Thankfully, my husband and I are both packrats, so we have plenty to offer!

And Princess Ariel, I've totally considered printing out some entries!  We'll see what I decide once the time comes.  :)

I'm so happy for you.  I know I have a friend from school waiting to get his greencard.  He talks about how nerve-racking it is.  I am just so happy for you both that you have an interview date.  Now your husband doesn't have to me afraid of opening the mail.
