Wedding gift disasters!

We recently got married and are just now settling into "married life". We just got back from our honeymoon 3 weeks ago, and just recently finished unwrapping and filing away all of our fabulous wedding gifts. Along with that task came the daunting task of writing our thank you cards. My husband and I wrote all of them, or so we thought, until one day I received a call from my MIL telling me that one of her society friends did not receive a thank you card and was disappointed.
After much research and stress over the issue, we figured out that we never received this particular individual's gift (which was a much better outcome than the embarrassment of having simply forgotten to send her a thank you card). It turns out that the lady went to Pottery Barn to buy our gift and asked to have it gift wrapped and then never returned to pick it up! She thought she had requested them to mail it off to us, but in actuality she never did. WHEW!
So all is still well w/the MIL, we've expedited a thank you card to her "hurt" society friend and we get to continue rocking along our smooth newly married bliss!
Score- 1 for the newlyweds: 0 for the in-laws
