Friday Night Excitement! ...uh, not so much.

YAY!  It's Friday and it's the weekend and I have a 3 day weekend thanks to earning comp-time from working last Sat.  Of course tonight is a total waste - exhausted from Mon., Tues. Wed., Thurs. and Fri.  And I swear I saw a big ugly gray snow cloud as I was unlocking the door to home.  It's freakin' freezin'!  So first thing on the agenda for the evening was putting on cozy micro-fleece pajamas and slippers!  Ahhhh....to the back of the closet heels and hose for 3 whole entire days!

My darling husband sent me a text today telling me he had a surprise for me.  I LoOoOve surprises!  So, my imagination was working overtime waiting for him to get home so I could finally see my surprise.  He always makes me close my eyes and hold out my hands.  It's sooooo full of suspense and exciting!  Usually it's my favorite - chocolate!  Or even my most favorite-est:  dark chocolate.  Today...it was.......a door knob.  Okay.  We're remodeling the house and we need a gazillion new door knobs, but my heart sank just a tiny bit.  Woo-wee.  A door knob for one of the bathrooms.  A "locking" door knob which is important.  Right?  But the big silly!  It wasn't the real present for me!  So I had to close my eyes again while he went outside and I wasn't allowed to peek and even had to leave the room and when he came back in he led me to the kitchen as I stumbled over my big fuzzy slippers with my eyes squeezed closed.  And when I opened them - there was the stainless steel hot/cold water dispenser I'd been wanting for 4 mos. (ever since the old crappy cheap plastic one cracked and fell apart).  YAY!  Now it may not seem romantic and it's not chocolate - but I've been microwaving my cups of tea (which I drink all day long) for the past soooo many months.  So - I'm thrilled!!!  Aren't you sooo thrilled for me?  Okay..maybe not.  But - he's so thoughtful!  And with it getting cold, I love having instant hot water for my tea and instant cold water to add just the right amount so it's not scalding.  :)  I'm so easy to please!  Of course...I think it's a big more costly than chocolate.  But, that's ok!

Then while my own personal "iron chef" created dinner (I know - I'm VERY lucky that he loves to do most of the cooking!), I assisted my "princess" with a homecoming dance dress rehearsal.  Curling her hair took an hour and now my back is killing me and my arms are rubber.  Her straight hair was not cooperating and putting up a struggle with the corkscrew curls.  Hairspray and heat vs. stubborn poker-straight.  It'll last all of 5 minutes, but she's smiling and put on her new dress and shoes and everything...so it's worth it.  (You don't realize what it takes to make a 14 year old girl smile!)

So my man is being manly and using his muscles to install a new door knob while Survivor Man is on tv and for once, my daughter is NOT on the computer (must be twirling in front of the mirror and practicing her flirty looks - oh no!).  I think I'll head to the tv and non-chalantly find a movie.  Good-night Survivor Man.  Hellooo Lifetime Movie Network!  Just kidding, honey - I'll find one we both can enjoy so we can snuggle on the couch and enjoy the beginning of a great weekend together!

About DANGERUSS & MITTENS

My husband calls me Mittens. I adore my husband, girls (19 & 16), our dapple doxie, Niski and spending time with family. I love the D&R board - you can usually find me there. It's a good thing I love D&R since we bought an old farmhouse last year that needs a complete cosmetic makeover. I love decorating & rearrange the furniture every time I clean. Yes, nearly once a week! I also love all things pink & girly. I'm an entrepreneur (wanna-be supermodel, actress, writer and princess - but my wanna-be status changes frequently). I love to blog. :)
