Fright Night and R&R

Posted Wednesday, October 24, 2007 1:01 AM

Phantom Fright Night was NOT as scary as I anticipated (whew!).  It was just Kennywood at night and crowded!  There was "fog" everywhere and spooky broken carousel music (I have to admit the music was a little creepy). They announced that there were 16,000 people there.  Crazy.  So, it ended up being lame for the most part.  Waiting in line for an hour to walk through a really stupid haunted house or maze.  So not worth it.  No amount of pep talking or bribing could get my fingernails undug(?) from the park bench to get me to ride the steel Phantom's Revenge roller coaster - now then I would have been frozen in terror for sure!  We did have a fun time however just because there were 7 of us walking around waiting to be scared out of our minds and laughing at the clowns and zombies.

More frightening? It's only Tuesday?  I am so overworked already this week...I'm feeling like it should be Friday!  Of course I arrived at work early yesterday by 20 minutes and everyone else was at least 25 minutes late and then it was our once a month operations meeting, so I didn't get home until 8 p.m.  Nice 12 hour day.  Early again this morning and participated in a health-fest most of the day, so when I finally got back to my office, I didn't get enough done and thought I'd be able to accomplish the rest of my preparations for an 8:30 a.m. meeting tomorrow morning at home, but ... it's not working out & now I'll have to be to work early again tomorrow.  To top it off - I work again on Sat. at table promoting another one of our physicians at a CME conference.  Did I mention that I'm salaried...therefore I get paid for 40 hour work week regardless of what I actually work?  It's no wonder I can't decide if I love my job or hate it, I don't have time to think about it!  But being burnt out just makes me really start with the consideration - I don't have to work, so why am I putting up with it?  I'm thinking I'm just more suited to part time work.  This is perhaps just a bad week.  Once I'm better rested and things get back to normal at work, I'll be okay (or maybe not since we have so many projects going on at the same time).  Just needed to vent!  And it looks as if I'll earn another comp day at least.

In the meantime, I just hung the wooden letters "R & R" on our bedroom wall.  I thought it was so genius (cute idea for bedroom).  R & R = Rest & Relaxation and R & R = my initial and DH's!  I ordered them online from Woodland Manufacturing.  I could choose the size I wanted and the font and the color.  I'll post a picture sometime this week when I have more time.  Right now...I'm going to demonstrate the R&R for rest and relaxation part.  And it's just that sort of cold damp night...perfect for jammies and snuggling.

About DANGERUSS & MITTENS

My husband calls me Mittens. I adore my husband, girls (19 & 16), our dapple doxie, Niski and spending time with family. I love the D&R board - you can usually find me there. It's a good thing I love D&R since we bought an old farmhouse last year that needs a complete cosmetic makeover. I love decorating & rearrange the furniture every time I clean. Yes, nearly once a week! I also love all things pink & girly. I'm an entrepreneur (wanna-be supermodel, actress, writer and princess - but my wanna-be status changes frequently). I love to blog. :)
