Computer Genius

I'm sOoOoOoO proud! I ordered my brand-spanking-new computer Sunday and I am proud to consider myself a geek squad wanna-be, if only for one evening.
My new computer was delivered yesterday! Now, I've heard complaints about Fed Ex online and in person, but let me side track here for a minute with my Fed Ex 'Happy Ending' story: Upon arriving home from work yesterday, I felt a huge let down when I confronted the post-it note from Fed Ex on my door stating that I had missed my delivery. Now, I looooove receiving packages in the mail - I get that wonderful Christmas-y feeling that "I have a present!" so I was MORE than let down...my heart sank. I missed them and in my head I'm thinking - "can I leave work tomorrow or call off or have someone here to sign for my packages or do I just sign and let them abandon my precious computer boxes out in the cold and rainy weather?" So, I resigned myself to sorting towering piles of scrapbook stickers and paper scraps while sitting indian-style on the family room floor. And then: Guess what?! Fed Ex returned last evening like my knight in shining armor just to deliver my boxes! I was all smiles! I think I saw a rainbow! I'm going to call Fed Ex and praise my driver for saving the day!
Okay...back to my computer minded prodigy-ness. Either connecting all the cords and parts is easy (and don't tell me if it's so simple a monkey can do it and burst my bubble) or I was born with a computer-assembly gene I didn't know about burried deep in the recessess of the unused portion of my brain! I prefer to think I have untapped technical talent (shhhh...don't mention the monkey). I'm very pleased with myself because I connected the daunting-looking computer and the wireless keyboard (the term "blue tooth" makes me giggle!) and mouse and the wireless speakers with subwoofer (I may not really know what a subwoofer is as sounds like a playmate for my mini-dachshund to me) ... but I have one with 4 speakers and I even snapped one into place on my new wide screen monitor. I put one in the livingroom - cool, huh? Then! Then - I even used a screwdriver to install a wireless driver to my new printer! And finally - I unplugged and plugged some wires into the back of our old computer and the new wireless router and the cable box thingy (my own real tech term = cable box thingy) and vola: internet service on the new computer AND the old one still! Look out Bill Gates...there's a new genius around town! Okay, I resign - look out monkey...you have some competition! At least I don't drag my arms on the ground and I do have a subwoofer. And don't forget the bluetooth! lol
So now I'm thinking I need to look for my Christmas CDs and get to unpacking all the boxes that I've shifted from guest room to family room in order to set up my computer. Okay...maybe tomorrow, because here I am surfin' the web and checking email and writing a blog about my shiny new computer chronicles all the while the effects of waking up early for work this morning and sorting junk and unpacking boxes are taking it's toll on my poor sore back. Computer installation and set up = hard work! Tomorrow's another day. I have ALL weekend. Therefore, good-night!
Ps. Wonder if I should tuck the subwoofer next to Niski who's already buried in her blankie on the couch? JUST KIDDING! I AM smarter than the monkey!
