What do kittens & holly have in common? THEY SCRATCH!
I did ask Russ this morning to clip some of the holly from a HUGE tree we have. It's gorgeous - and it's FREE (we won't mention the money I've spent this weekend on Christmas decorations - some of the old ones I dug out seemed too tacky for our 1st Christmas in our new home...I couldn't help it!). And surprisingly he didn't go out in flipflops with socks, a paint-splattered t-shirt and leave a ladder in the yard until spring or fall head first like he's known to do! I debated whether to attempt holly-trimmings with scissors myself in order to spare the above "picture" of Russ in the front yard. But, no - he did a fine job! My poor hands are a mess with little scratches all over - and OUCH, washing hands = stings! But, I have a beautiful fresh holly swag to show for all my battle wounds!
The girls and I had a nice time at the mall this afternoon. Alainee's birthday money was burning a whole in her pocket...I had no desire to go through the mall, but she twisted my arm! We had a nice mother-daughter(x2) couple of hours and yes, I did come home with more Christmas decorations. I'll need to hire one of Santa's elves after Christmas for an entire week to take it all down, but the house looks very Christmas-y and since we're hosting Christmas...it was necessary (that way guests can look past the unfinished projects. Wood burner trumps mudroom tile...darn).
And once the DELL HELL nightmare ends - I can upload pictures and such. I'm instructed to restore everything to factory settings and install the usb wireless adapter and printer again and delete the wireless program I purchased with the computer! However - of course right now it's working fine other than not communicating with the scanner/printer. I know this computer knows it's about to get shipped right back to Dell ... and behaving for the time being (probably until return-time expires). I'm upset. I bought it and loved it and took good care of it only to have it NOT perform. It really burns me that Dell would sell a product that has so many issues. Anyway...back to happy Christmas thoughts!
Or...dread. I work a 12 hour day tomorrow. NOT looking forward to it. Of course, since I neglected laundry and house-cleaning this weekend (if you can look past the neglect - the house looks very festive!) and it's either work a 12 hour day at work or come home to more work anyway. So, what's another day of dust balls under the couch (does anyone else hate maintaining hardwood floors as much as I do?).
I guess I should rest my weary bones, sore muscles, holly-scratch-fever hands..."I decorated for Christmas all weekend or got hit by a train", one of the two and a 12 hour day is going to drag if I don't get some sleep!
