We're hosting Easter! I'm so excited and probably in way over my head. The house is a disaster with so many unfinished projects! I have my work cut out for me...disguising the unfinished areas and playing up all that we have accomplished!
Our Easter Dinner Menu:
Black Forest Ham (cooked with Yingling) - DH's recipe
DH's Famous Potato salad (red skin potatoes, fresh dill, hard boiled eggs, bacon, green olives...yum!)
Mom, sister, brother & dad are all bringing something (3 bean casserole, devilled eggs, bread, etc.)
I'm making a berry jello salad with tiny marshmallows (I may even attempt a jello mold...but they usually collapse) and carrot cupcakes with buttercream icing made to look like chicks (Martha Stewart recipe):
Aren't they cute?
I'm putting my decor focus on the table and made these cute little Easter buckets for placecards. I'm going to tie on a name tag with pretty ribbon:

Yes...my cocoa marshmallow bunnies are getting stale!
We're also having an Easter Egg Hunt - at my mom's request...weather permitting. Maybe it'll become a family tradition! I can't wait to hide them all over our 3 acres! I plan on filling them with candy, lottery tickets, and teeny fuzzy little chicks. Collector of the most tiny little chicks wins a bigger prize (something Easter related such as an Easter lily or arrangement). Some of the eggs will also have notes that say "share a childhood Easter memory", etc.
My 19 year old daughter will come home to spend the night and I'll make up baskets for her and my 15 yr old daughter. I always hide them. I read somewhere (sorry I can't remember in order to give credit) that their baskets were tied with yarn which was strung all over the house ... a path leading to the hidden Easter basket. I may give that a shot! And I found pastel colored mixing bowls with measuring spoons...add Easter candy = perfect for my 19 yr old daughter with a nest of her own. :) And no...my 15 yr old isn't getting the $300 ipod touch in hers! (previous blog entry)
I just have so much to do, yes I know....and here I am on the computer and have to work the next two days! I'm a procrastinator who works better under pressure. At least...that's what I keep telling myself!
