I'm baaaacccckkkk! (again)

I miss my nestie friends & blogging!  If only I was lucky enough to win the lottery so I could spend my days reclining on a chaise lounge in the sun, sipping cocktails glancing over my laptop on occasion at contractors sweating over the home improvement projects, a chauffeur driving my daughter around, a maid cleaning the house, the interest earned in the checking account paying the bills, and I could blog all day long & catch up on what I've missed...where is that genie/lamp or fairy godmother in real life?

A lot has been going on lately and there's just never enough time in the day.  In the past 2 mos., we've visited my dad in FL, planned a quick intimate wedding for my brother (see picture of our grape arbor below!), I taxi my daughter before and after work and on my lunch hour with tennis and candystriping at the hospital.  I'm still working my regular job of 40+ hours a week and my business is slowly progressing (although not fast enough!) meaning I'm managing after work appts., etc.  Plus we always have a home improvement project going on!

Thankfully DH insists we take a vacation to Punta Cana in Aug. and it's planned & paid for.  I can't wait to have some "us" time!  Of course my daughter is upset because she isn't going.  She'll go to her dad's.  I feel a little bad about it.  But, we did just get back from FL.  I mean, it was more of a family visit than 'fun' vacation, but it was something.  We'll also take her to an amusement park coming up...another day mostly for her.

I feel my husband has the right to a kid-free  vacation.  When he married me, he got the package deal which included 2 teenage daughters.  He is wonderful and supportive and he works hard to provide for us - including my girls...including their needs and things they want - and hasn't had a vacation since our honeymoon nearly 3 years ago (he is accustomed to and needs to vacation yearly for stress-relief).  He deserves a vacation on his terms.

I can understand her feelings too. I've had a talk with her and hopefully she'll understand one day.

I don't like being caught in the middle, but I feel that he really does deserve a break.  He's done pretty darn good for moving in with 3 females and taking on the extra responsibility!  He has a point about the whining and the complaints.  I can picture her on vacation whining about not liking the food or being bored.

And trust me...with a squeaky bed --- our intimate times must be planned when the house is empty, if you know what I mean!  So having a week of 'just us' is so needed for our relationship.  Hopefully it all works out.

Here's the setting for my brother's wedding (minus the runner...which did get rolled out, but kept blowing in the breeze):

Not bad for a tight budget and guest list of 20.  :)

Glad to have you back!  It sounds like you were busy.  I wish I could win the lottery and blog all day as well.  I guess I blog all day anyway though.  Only instead of hunky, sweaty contractors, I look at fat computer programmers :(

Do not for one second feel bad about not taking your daughter on that trip.  Heck, my husband and I plan on always taking vacations just the two of us, no matter how much our kids protest.  You gotta have that alone time.  It sounds awesome, I'm so jealous.  By the way, YOU deserve that trip too!

About DANGERUSS & MITTENS

My husband calls me Mittens. I adore my husband, girls (19 & 16), our dapple doxie, Niski and spending time with family. I love the D&R board - you can usually find me there. It's a good thing I love D&R since we bought an old farmhouse last year that needs a complete cosmetic makeover. I love decorating & rearrange the furniture every time I clean. Yes, nearly once a week! I also love all things pink & girly. I'm an entrepreneur (wanna-be supermodel, actress, writer and princess - but my wanna-be status changes frequently). I love to blog. :)
