The sun is shining! From inside you wouldn't know it's only 30 degrees out there so I got motivated to clean. Yesterday I had too much time on my hands ... bored out of my mind (see here) and today I feel like I'm accomplishing something!
So, break time and thought I'd give a blog shout out! "hi www!"
We're heading to a suprise birthday party tonight at my mom's for her husband's 50th. She brought over appetizers for me to heat and bring since she didn't think she'd be able to finish them all in time for the surprise. I'm looking forward to getting dressed up and going! I was invited to another party at 1 but seeing how that's in 8 minutes, I don't think I'm going to make it. :( Dust, vacuum and shower before fun.
See why I'm not blogging regularly? Not much to blog about when nothing is going on! I'm so boring! lol
Have a great weekend everyone!

I have to share my happiness! I have never had a lucky day until today (well, let's not count the bad lucky days! lol). Not only is the sun shining (hurray!) which lifts my spirits ... I.WON.an.awesome.prize! Yes, me - winning & smiling! Hurray!
Want to see what I won?

That's right - an Ethan Allen Poster Bed from the Nest! Hurray! Woo hoo!
Remember when my daughter moved out in the spring (sad day, sniffle)...well, she left behind blinding primary red walls and there has been a queen sized matress and box springs just sitting there with all of the dust bunnies. This is just the motivation I needed to pick up a paint brush (I gave them up after painting room #9 a while back!).
Thanks for listening! Off to buy a lottery ticket! lol

Good morning! Remember me? I'm back! I've missed you guys and I can't wait to get caught up!
I'm into my 3rd day of finally not working my regular position. Remember when I gave my resignation back in August?! lol I still have to run into the office every day to pick up the part time work-from-home things that I'm doing. I needed to do something to keep some sort of money flowing otherwise I'd go into shock! lol But, it's nice to stay in my pj's a little longer and have a little more time. I was working both full time and a part time job there for a while...which kept me from my blog. But, hopefully all of that craziness is behind me and now I can resume keeping in touch with you guys!
Catching you up:
My little niece was born 10/20. She's so precious!
This was her first Halloween:

Then, there was the Sweet 16 party for my baby girl. She wanted a black & white theme and enjoyed the evening of being the center of attention. I think it turned out awesome - even with the strict budget!
The candy "bar" and cupcakes:

Little framed quote at the candy buffet:
Favor bags to fill up on treats & sweets:
Her guest sign in (index cards to be transferred to photo album/scrapbook):

More black & white decorations. Black & white balloons over the dance floor. (Note: Blinking balloons are not worth the expense. The mechanism that holds the light is heavier than helium and your balloons won't float. They are okay to toss around.)
Table centerpieces:

A slide show:
The birthday girl & her old mom. This is a traditional photo we take every year:
Then...an okay Thanksgiving. It's just not quite the same ordering a turkey dinner from a restaurant on Thanksgiving Day, but we did enjoy home made pies at my mom's afterward.
Which brings us up to pretty recent. I'm still around & I haven't fallen off the face of the earth! It's good to be back and I look forward to catching up!

Just wanted to say hi...I know haven't blogged in a while (not much to say), but I do check in to get caught up once in a while!
"Hi!"

Tonight I'm heading to a local coffee shop to listen to my daughter play her new electric violin! I can't wait! I love listening to her play the violin and the last time was when she was living at home and practicing. I miss those sounds! She even played at our wedding. It was beautiful. I'm so proud! She's been sending me text messages all day about how nervous she is, poor thing!
It's thundering. I love a good thunderstorm...except when I'm home alone. It sounds very haunting today with the sky getting dark. DH is working today and I miss him!

I want to cry! I am never one to blurt something out. I'm always, always the quiet one. My mom and sister say what's on their mind no matter what and think nothing of it, but I don't. I've always thought it'd be a good quality, but after what I said...it doesn't feel like such a good quality after all! When I do speak up, it's usually supportive and caring. I just said something really awful and inappropriate to someone I don't know and I am so embarrassed that I just want to cry and hide and even though I've apologized and believe me...it's from the bottom of my heart, I just wish I could take it back so badly. I always try to make people feel better, not worse and my intention was to just make this person feel better and laugh, but it didn't come out that way. I'm sure I made her feel worse. I just can't believe I stuck my foot in my mouth. I am completely too embarrassed to give details. I just hope my apology was enough and since this person doesn't know me, that she blows off my ignorance.

I took a walk around our property and barn today. I saw some things I never noticed before, along with some unusual things we have noticed (the lights).

Look at these concrete shoes prints:

And these are the lights. There are four of them in a row. Very unusual looking in the middle of the yard behind the barn. We knew from a log book in our home that these were lights installed on a bocce court in the 1960's.
I did just notice this date carved in the stone foundation. I can make out Dec. 1924.

Here are some other random photos. The barn is last on our priority list since we have so many other home improvement projects on this old farmhouse. We don't use it other than for storing the riding lawn mower, etc.

I have to remember that when I get envious of all of the new construction homes and magazine quality looking photos of gorgeous interiors...that I LOVE the character and history of our property and home, something that a new home doesn't offer. I'm happy with what I have (even though I'll always admire the floor plans of new homes). But, I'm open to million dollar handouts to cover all of our projects that at this rate will take a lifetime! lol That's one of the things I envy most about new construction...everything is NEW and relatively completed in a shorter time frame.

We're planning a baby shower for my SIL on Sunday.
Okay, so I have to make 40 of each of these? Ugh. But...they're cute.
The pin on diapers are for a game (mini M&Ms inside one of them for the door prize winner). The cinnamon buns are scented felt favors that I ordered from Ebay. I added the cupcake liners and some flags that read "It's a Girl" and "Bun in the Oven", etc. One has a charm inside as a winner).
Back to work. :)
