What can I do with my husband's sports memorabilia?

Besides throw it away? Whoops -- did we say that out loud? We know DH loves his sporty paraphernalia, and although it might have been fabulous decor when he lived alone, a shot of the Red Sox winning the World Series does not need to go over your bed too. (We know, the curse was reversed. It’s still not going in the bedroom!)

The new plan: Create a nook or room where he can proudly display his favorite sports moments. Maybe it’s a home office, a downstairs bathroom, the staircase going to the basement, or the basement itself. We love the idea of having a “guy’s hangout” room in every house. This is where he and his friends can watch games and tell old stories without messing up your peaceful routine (and decor). Now if only you could stop MIL from giving him new sports crap every holiday.…

re: What can I do with DH’s sports memorabilia?

My husband was on the track team at FSU, and so he has a TON of medals, certificates, plaques, and championship rings. I purchased a shadow box, put a ring row in the bottom (like we have in jewelry boxes). Then I hung the medals at the top with the rings in the ring row, and hung it next to a framed picture of him pole vaulting. It's very classy, but still shows off his most prized possessions.

I gave my husband 'Man town'.  We are luckly enough to have 2 sitting rooms.  The upstairs is pretty, has the fire place, pottery on the mantle...it is beautiful.

His room is MAN TOWN in the basement.  It has a reclining couch, a LCD tv, and all his sports 'stuff' (autographs, baseballs, Pats, Sox and Celtics Pictures).  We had rules, it had to be nicely framed and hung up straight :)

It looks really nice and he loves it.

I keep telling him - a collection is only a collection if it is all together.  If it is spread from one end of the house to the other - and in every junk drawer - then it is just junk :)

It is impressive to see all his collections nicely displayed in one room.

I dedicated the office to all his hockey, baseball, football, and pub themed stuff. We don't have a basement yet, so this works for now! I told in that once we have a baby, he has to save his stuff for the next house (hopefully WITH a basement!) & he agreed!

DH's thing is GOLF and holy cow does he have a lot of it. He played professionally for years and some is nice, classic looking but some is just terrible (A lamp made out of a miniature golf bag with and umbrella as the shade) I can't WAIT until our basement is finished so we can display all the nice stuff plus his trophys and awards. I think he will love it.

I think having a separate room to display his sport memorablia is great, but me and my fiance are moving into a 1/1 apartment giving me limited space to display all his favorie moments in sports, autographed jerseys .. , i dont quite think a jersey hanging in the middle of the living room is what i invisioned in my first apartment. what should i do?
