What gizmo is collecting dust in your kitchen?

I cracked up reading Melany928’s post on the twin curl cutter (“Just bought the most unnecessary kitchen gadget…”), although I’m also kinda curious to hear how it works. So I started thinking about all of the must-have gizmos I own, and how I must-have-been- crazy for wanting them so bad.

My most recent frivolity is the Bonjour Café Latte Milk Frother (pictured). I dropped very un-subtle hints and got it for Christmas. The picture on the box shows a pint glass just about bubbling over with milky, frothy goodness. However, I am 100 percent certain that blowing bubbles in your milk with a straw would produce the same results as this battery-powered doohickey. The “froth” barely covers the surface of my coffee mug and in only stays bubbly for about 3.2 seconds.

My short list of other equally useless, silly or never-been-touched kitchen gadgets:

* Dumpling crimper (smooshing the edges with the tines of a fork tines does a better job)

* Wooden Mexican chocolate frother (sensing a theme here?)

* Turkey trussing kit (I have never trussed a turkey)

* Vegetable grill basket (it’s tiny, and you can’t close the lid of the grill when using it)

* Pasta machine (it works like a dream…but has been out of the box once in 10 years)

WCers, it’s time to confess. What's the most useless or frivolous had-to-have gadget in your kitchen?

My blender. Honestly. The DH and I bought it before we were married and it just sits in our cabinet.

But seriously, I still have gadgets from my bridal shower that I haven't used yet because we're on a de-cluttering binge right now ... and we have a TINY apartment.

So...here's another question--what do you end up doing with your dust-collecting gizmos? Donate them to a good cause--like a shelter for women and kids that can use kitchen equipment? Sell it on eBay or Craigslist? Or save it for the day you have a big-a** garage/sidewalk sale? Hmmm....maybe there should be a WC gizmo swap-meet.

For my bridal shower my SIL played a game where you had to identify the kitchen gadgets: tomato corer, lettuce knife, grapefruit knife. They just sit in my rarely used kitchen utensils drawer, yes I have a drawer for them, lol. I actually use the other things in the drawer, these kind of just sit at the bottom.  I don't plan to get rid of them, because I know the moment I do I'm going to need them for something...spoken like true kitchen hoarder.

I live in a house with several roommates. One of them bought an expensive little rotary pizza oven even though our oven makes pizza faster and just as well. I honestly think he bought it because he's a terrible cook and needs to watch the pizza at all times to ensure he doesn't burn it. So it's not completely unnecessary, in that we use it every time we make pizza, but we shouldn't. Oh well, his money.

I got my husband to buy me a Jack Lalanne juicer for Christmas a few years ago. i have no idea why I ever wanted that thing. i think I used it once. It is so much cheaper to buy juice, additives and all!
