The Basement

Goodness, as if there isn't enough going on your first year of marriage, my husband is completely finishing our basement!  He's downstairs all day and night, any chance he gets, and there are always a bunch of guys drinking and acting like “men” in my house.  Thank god he has good cousins who come help a lot.  Anyway, most everything that was in our unfinished basement before is now upstairs in our front room, so it's not like I'm having people over for awhile.  It's great he's handy and smart, but doing it yourself, there has to be some law against that.  It takes three times as long as hiring someone, but yes, I know it's much cheaper.  And considering my job situation, cheaper is better.  But we're looking at 2 more months.  When it's done, I'm going to be so happy!  We have an 812 square foot house (not big by any means) with two small bedrooms and one bathroom.  We're hoping to live there a few more years before it's necessary to look for something bigger, and having kids in that house would not be an option without the basement finished.  Right now, our only other bedroom has a vanity, a computer desk, and a filing cabinet.  We definitely need someplace else for those things if we plan on having a baby room next year.  The good news is, this project is really pleasing the pups.  They love to collect wood and drywall in their mouths and transport it upstairs.  They don't eat it, thank god, but coming home to your living room covered in drywall specs from the basement is, well, funny, but also a pain in the butt to clean up!
