I thought men were taught never to ask this...

Posted Thursday, April 19, 2007 12:36 PM

Okay, I've put on 10 pounds since my wedding, I accept that.  But I'm still within a normal weight range for my body, I exercise, and I watch what I eat, so I'm okay with it (well, until I put on a bathingsuit, but what girl likes that look...really?)  Anyway, some guy in my office came up to me this morning and asked, "Are you in a motherly way?" while looking straight at my belly!  I said no, that I'm just wearing wide waistband pants that put extra fabric around my belly, but what I should have said was, "Nope, I'm on my period right now so I'm just bloated."  Maybe that would make him feel just as uncomfortable as he made me feel!  When I'm pregnant, bring on the questions, ask away if I'm "in a motherly way" - by the way, do men think that is a polite way of asking if a woman is knocked up?  But until that happens, back off people or this non-pregnant lady is going to smack.

I can't believe he did that!!!!! I practically break into tears when I put on a tight dress and see the slightest bit of fat, I would have smacked him so hard! I practically rip peoples heads off when they even suggest that I might have gained weight while planning a wedding.

OMG what an idiot. Who says that really? and at work non-the-less. Listen, dont worry about it. I just hit my 10 month anniversary as a married lady and Yes I gained about ten pounds too. I'm in normal weight range as well so I shouldnt complain but I am hyper aware of it since never in my life did I gain weight...Until I Got Married!lol Do you watch the Office? cause thats sounds like a skit in that show LOL.

oh man, I know just how you feel!  gaining weight sucks.  I have also gained about 10 pounds and I, too, try to watch what I eat and exercise, but it doesnt seem to be helping.  :-(  that guy who said that to you deserves to be smacked!!!  I honestly can't believe he said that!

He shouldn't have said a word to you about that!  Until you make an announcement that you are pregnant, nobody should say stuff like that to you.  I mean, what if you were, but didn't want to tell people yet?  How rude of him!  I would have been so pissed at him for saying that.  There's no "polite" way for someone to say that, at ALL!

That guy was super tactless! I mean its an unwritten rule to never comment on someone who may be pregnant unless you're SURE (think 6 months pregnant or, of course, being told).

NOOOOOOO WAY!  If it makes you feel better, I wore an empire dress last summer and had 2 or 3 people ask me if I was "expecting."  Gag!  Sorry that they did that!  Have a good weekend.
