Kokopelli

A kokopelli is a fertility deity usually depicted as a humpback flute player that has been recognized by many Native American cultures. My friend Andy gave me a kokopelli statue several years ago after he took a trip to Arizona. My husband and I weren't married at the time, and we made a joke about keeping it as far from the bedroom as possible, since it is a representation of fertility, and we were not looking for any surprises! We kept it displayed atop a tall shelf in the front room of the house, and I forgot all about it. Now that we are trying to have a baby, apparently Chris hasn't forgotten about it. A few days before we left for our cruise, I walked into the living room to see the kokopelli statue just chilling on a table tray in the middle of the livingroom. I got a good laugh out of that. Chris acts like he'll be fine no matter how long it takes us to get pregnant, but in all honesty, I think he's hoping for that positive result asap. And he's pulling out all the stops. So two days ago, after a wonderful bedroom romp, I stayed in bed for a bit and Chris got up right away. He kept jerking his head, like that consistent head nod to get someone to look in a certain direction. So I look up at what he's angling his head towards, and low and behold, there is the kokopelli, now transported on top of our high bedpost. Chris said he put it there several days ago, and I hadn't noticed at all! He was waiting for a big reaction from me when I noticed it, but I never did. Of course, I think it's way funnier to not notice it and watch my husband doing some freaky thing with his head to get me to look at it. It was cracking up on the bed! Well, now the kokopelli is in the bedroom (of course he'll come down when anyone comes over, we don't want any questions about the weird foot tall figurine watching over our bedroom activities). My husband is so dang cute!
