Last night my friend and I went to the nail salon and got pedicures. It was probably foolish to waste over an hour on my feet and then have dinner with my friend when I have so much going on at my house and with the fundraiser, but it was quite relaxing and wonderful to just think about me and gossip with my friend for a bit. So I don't feel bad. I do, however, hate that the second I got home, Chris was in psycho-mode on the basement. He handed me a paint brush and said let's get moving. So we tried as best we could to repair all the damaged edges of the walls (with not the most success, but some things you have to just let go), painted over all the scuff marks, and marked the areas that needed repaired by the carpet company. We weren't done until after midnight.
The carpet guys got to the house right on time this morning and got started immediately on all the spots that needed fixed. Let me tell you, one hour of actual attention to detail made a world of difference. The steps look so much better, and all the other flaws have been corrected in some way. They are refunding us about $100 to take care of the gallon of paint we had to buy and for the time we had to take off work this morning. I'm much happier now. There is still a lot to do, mainly the wood moulding that we have to buy, stain, and install, but we're getting there. Obviously, I'm much more optimistic today than I was yesterday.
And we got a band for the fundraiser, finally. Two, actually. No one band was able to perform all night, so we managed to get one from 6-9 and one from 9-11. Both would only do it if they are paid a little bit. So we went from one free band to two charging-us-money bands, but at least we'll have some music now.
