I posted awhile ago that since my husband is not naturally romantic, to ensure I get an occasional passionate night or romantic moment, I went against the norm and typed up a 26 item list of various things my husband could do that would make me super happy and feel loved. He was all about getting it since it makes his life easier. Well, he's had that list for about a month or so and not one single thing on that list has been done yet. It's not like we have the list hanging on the fridge or anything - he keeps it somewhere and probably only read over it the one time when I gave it to him - but I know what's on the list and I know we haven't seen a movie together, he hasn't bought me a York Peppermint Patty, he hasn't put in one of my CDs to listen to instead of his music, we haven't had a picnic, etc etc etc.
Since I'm sure Chris is feeling overwhelmingly happy to have me as his wife at this point since I didn't kill him over his stunts the night before but yelled at him enough to show him how much I truly care about him, he's pulling out all the stops, including the list. When I got home from the grocery last night, he asked if we could go on a walk together...without the dogs! That was item number one on the romance list. When we were dating, we used to take nightly walks around the neighborhoods where we each lived, but that stopped after we moved in together. We occasionally both go to take the dogs on a walk, but it's a mess of leashes crossing, picking up poo, and the dogs sprinting and then suddenly stopping to smell some other dog's pee. Not romantic.
On this walk, he actually held my hand! Romantic list item number two. He never holds my hand, especially not in public. When we returned to the house (and let me tell you, the dogs were pissed we left them to do their favorite activity without them), I started putting the rest of the groceries away. Chris showed me that he had cut up the celery stalk and put the slices into little baggies. Oh my god, list item number three. I buy his favorite fruits and vegetables, but he's lazy and never cuts them up and puts them in storage containers for him to take to work, and that stuff always goes bad and I have to throw it away.
He did go out again last night, but he goes out every Wednesday night to the same bar and meets up with his uncles. He's been doing it for over seven years now. But he was home by 10 pm and was even energetic enough to watch about 20 minutes of a movie with me before feeling like we should go to bed for the night. Impressive.
