What's the deal with nail polish?

Posted Tuesday, January 15, 2008 12:41 PM

Why do I bother?  I usually don't.  I'm typically nail polish free, even from the clear coat stuff.  It's just a hassle.  But my friend bought me a cute new color (I love the dark purples and blues that almost look black with a second coat) and I wanted to make her happy by painting my nails in that color before meeting up with her.  So I did my nails on Sunday afternoon.  Two were messed up before I walked out the door.  How is any girl supposed to sit still for an hour while her nails completely dry?  There are things to be done!  By today (not even two whole days later), my hands make me look like I'm some punk rocker chick who has lost all motivation to pretty herself.  All but two nails have chipped down about half way.  The polish on some of the nails peeled completely off in one piece, as if it was just a sticker.  So I wonder, why did I bother?

I feel the same way! My mom always gives me nail polish at Christmas, and so I'll give it a shot when I'm bored, but I always end up with chips and scratches! It's so not worth it.

Only the professionals can make it last longer than two days, and even then it depends on whether or not you can stay for them to dry properly.

I hear you!  I felt like I couldn't function after I had gotten mine done for the wedding.  XD  How can you live like that??

Good to know I'm not the only one who can't handle doing her nails!  I start off thinking it'll look so good when it's done, but instead I end up looking like a 10-year-old after a slumber party.  I've never understood how those girls who have perfect nails all the time can do that!

nail polish has to be one of the biggest waste of time b/c of the chipping so soon. the pros are the only ones that can get it to last longer than a couple of days. i hope your feeling better!!

OMG... Get out of my brain!! I did my nails on Saturday and they were busted up before I even got into bed. I've been thinking the very same thing for the past 4 days (as the polish peels for no reason at all). I tried to do a French mani thing and of course the white band at the tips are different widths and it looks like I dipped my nails in frosting. Grrr! If I ever find out the secret to good, long lasting at-home nail jobs, I'll let you know LOL!

I only use clear for that reason and even then sometimes it just looks crazy. They make this new kind of peel and stick polish that one of my friends uses maybe we should all give that a try

I hear you.  I actually went to get a manicure on Friday afternoon...just a little break for myself.  By the time I woke up on Sat. morning, the polish was chipping on three nails.  By Sunday, I was taking it off.  Total waste of time and MONEY
