"Fritos" - a quick grocery store tale

Posted Wednesday, March 12, 2008 10:24 AM

Ever step outside yourself and do something you'd never in a million years do if you were "inside" yourself?  Apparently, I do.

I went grocery shopping on Monday.  I actually enjoy grocery shopping immensely.  I spend nearly an hour in there every time I go, picking out just the right things, reading labels, following a list, using coupons.

This particular trip, I wasn't feeling great.  In fact, I felt concerned that I would hurl at any moment.  By the time I reached the far end of the store, picking out a bag of Doritos for my husband, I literally felt like I might pass out.  So this is when I stepped outside myself.

I grabbed a bag of Fritos, ripped it open, and began chowing down right there in the snack food aisle.  People were looking at me.  I stopped and started thinking, "Who is this girl?"  It certainly wasn't me.  I don't even like Fritos.  I don't get so hungry in the grocery store that I need to eat something immediately.

It must have been the fetus.  The fetus must really love Fritos.

You are too funny - why do you call it a fetus - it is your baby - thay just sounds strange to me - but I guess to each their own.

Jackie-because technically it is a fetus.  My doctor refers to it as a fetus.  It becomes a fetus I think somewhere around 9 weeks (from an embryo) and stays a fetus until born.  Technically, I call it a baby when in conversation, but it really isn't yet, since it couldn't possibly survive outside my womb at this point.

I replied to your private message.  You are right regarding the fetus and I agree with you - I just never her anyone refer to it as a fetus.
