Totally forgot...I so still got a ring!

Above is the picture from the website. Below is the ring on my finger, taken with my cell phone.
It's a Peridot, which is my birth stone. This is the first piece of jewelry I've ever owned in my birth stone, and ironically Peridot will be our baby's birth stone as well. I so didn't think I was getting a ring this year (read my previous blog entry to see why I thought I'd be getting a ring yesterday), but he came through and kept the tradition alive - and chose a relatively inexpensive ring (I know because I'd been looking at this particular ring for about 2 years now) so I don't feel too guilty about accepting it.
We had such a great time at dinner. It was when I was looking at the dessert menu that he said, "How about this?" I looked up and he was holding the ring. I was truly surprised...if there was ever a year he would be able to "fool" me, this was the year. It's a very pretty ring. He was cracking up when he told me he suddenly realized that if he keeps this up, by our 50th anniversary, what the heck am I going to do with 50 rings! Good point. He also was laughing because when the sales lady asked him what the occasion was, he told her it was for "St. Patrick's Day" with a totally straight face.
