Now, not to scare you or anything...

...but this is what's happening to me...CANKLES!

If you aren't sure what regular ankles should look like, pop off your shoes and socks and take a look at your own lovely, slender ankles.  Then check out mine.  These photos are from three different occasions.  I'll explain before each set of photos.

Don't be afraid.  This will probably never happen to you.

These photos are from a Sunday I was just cleaning around the house.  I had regular fuzzy slipper socks on throughout the day, which apparently grew tighter and tighter without my knowledge and left nasty marks on my swollen gross ankles.

The next set of photos were taken immediately after I got home from work one day.  The shoes I was wearing are one size too big even!  My feet still swelled to the point that my shoes left marks.  This time the swelling was on the tops of my feet, so they were sorta like little pillows of fluff.  You could push on them and they would be squishy.

(in the pic above, check out the bottom right side...see how puffy my foot is there?)

And finally, the photos below are from a Saturday I worked about two hours, standing the whole time.  This time wasn't as bad, but you can see how swollen my leg is too, not just my ankle.  And that cute little bone on the outside of your ankle...mine no longer exist.  They are hidden under all the junk.

Just thought I'd share the joys of what I'm going through with the swelling.  Sorry it involved photos of my feet..gross!

Oh wow, it is so funny that you would bring this up, because I mentioned to Matt yesterday that my biggest fear of pregnancy is what will happen to my right ankle.  A month before my wedding, I fell down the stairs while helping my husband move.  My ankle got so big and swollen and it has gone down a lot, but not all the way.  It hurts a lot, but your pictures reminded me of this awful photo I took of my foot a few days after the fall.  You have freaked me out now ! Yikes!!!

I feel your pain! Although I have never been pregnant after my knee surgery I had the worst cankle on my left leg. I still have it because it will probably take almost a year for all the swelling in the knee and leg to completely leave. Try to stay off your feet and take it easy!

For an assignment, I read "What to Expect When You're Expecting" in 7th grade. Cankles are only about #43 on my list of reasons not to participate in your joyous situation, but AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH that's a good reason!
