Little Miss Pregnancy Sunshine

People who are pregnant - and suffering from water retention, weight gain, nausea, and exhaustion - do NOT want to hear how amazing YOUR pregnancy was. I promise you!
This woman at work yesterday asked me how I was feeling. I told her that it's weird, that my nausea has returned and I feel like throwing up unless I'm eating something, which is of course not helping my already 20 pound weight gain. And then she said, "I hardly gained any weight when pregnant. I was just this little stick. I had it all in front, my hips didn't even spread."
I'm just nodding my head, thinking about how quickly I can break free from this devastating conversation, when she added, "In fact, I just had a great pregnancy. It's funny, even after I had the baby, everything just popped right back in place. No stretch marks, no saggy skin. You'd never even know by looking at me that I ever had a child."
This is when I can't stand it anymore, mainly because she does look like she's never had a child and is so perfectly thin and peppy. I said, "Promise me you'll never teach a class for expectant mothers." She didn't get the hint and she kept going on about how lucky she was and how she never swelled or felt sick. So I said, "Seriously, do flocks of pregnant women wait for you outside by your car to beat you up?"
Her expression was precious. It wasn't of shock at what I said, it wasn't of embarrassment that she went on and on about her wonderful experience. It was of pity that I'm not as fortunate as her to have had the greatest pregnancy experience ever.
