Internals Freaking Hurt!

Internals are where your OB/midwife checks your cervix for dilation or effacement. Internals are usually not started until the end of pregnancy or until the baby is overdue, and during labor. My doctor decided to start internals at 34 weeks in order to ready my body and get it going so I can potentially go into labor on my own and avoid an induction.
Let me just tell you, it was the worst pain I've ever experienced, I'm not going to lie. My first question was, "Do internals hurt this bad during labor!!???" My doctor assured me that it only hurts so badly because I'm not ready, my cervix is not dilated or lowered, and that it will be during labor. Plus I'll have drugs.
I requested to NOT get another one until I'm 36 weeks. I'm taking a dang week off. Yikes it felt so horrible. She said it's my choice, but I should know that the more internal exams I have, the more likely I am for my body to cooperate and go into labor on its own. But I can't even explain to you the pain I felt. I was gripping the sides of the table.
In other enlightening news (and not good news to the previously mentioned b.i.t.c.h I've become), I had a growth ultrasound and my baby is measuring super large for his gestational age. He's in the 78th percentile and already is estimated to weigh 5 lbs 12 ounces. And I have 5 weeks to go!!!! My baby is going to come out looking like a six month old!
