First entry!!!

So I'm a little late with starting up my blog. That means I have to catch everyone up with the planning process so far... We got engaged on December 20, 2007, around 9pm. I had to work the next morning (at 7am) and was tempted to call in sick, BUT I wanted to show off my ring. I couldn't sleep that night. I think I slept maybe 3 hours that night. I can't imagine how I'll be the night before my wedding! And we tried EVERYTHING to help me sleep... wine, tv, reading, and other activities.

So on my way up to the floor the next morning, I see that the gift shop was already open (they usually open 20 minutes later) so I stopped in and bought my first ever bridal magazine. The work day was slow so I spent a lot of time poring over the magazine and getting ideas. I even started looking on theknot for different vendors. I told everyone at work the big news and interrupted rounds with the doctor because he was wondering what all us girls were whispering about (what could be more important than the patients? lol)

The next couple of days were uneventful because we were focused on Christmas and our New Year's trip to New Jersey/NYC. I got a bridal magazine at the airport and finished the whole thing before the plane took off! I got some good ideas on reception sites and dresses.

Once we got back from NJ, I had to work 4 days in a row. Luckily, my wedding planning books came in and I started working on those. FI and I individually did a questionnaire. We had a lot of similar ideas but the one bug surprise was that he wants to write his own vows. I'm excited and can't wait to hear what he has to say.

Sometime around this time, I found an invaluable tool... the Central FL knottie board. Those girls are AMAZING!!! I found out about 2 promising DJs and some great reception sites through them. I also found my photographer due to the recommendations and heard good things about an officiant and videographer. I love reading everyone's bios.

Planning and Vendor Ideas so far:

So nothing is set in stone yet. I reallyyyy like the Wyndham I-Drive for the ceremony and wedding. FI is going with me this week to check it out. I went last week on my own so I narrowed things down so he only has to check out 1-2 places.

The date is most likely 2/28/2009.

We have decided on red as our wedding color, along with either black, white, or silver.

We want something semi-formal, and I want to incorporate a heart theme.

We want red roses and maybe some white lillies.

We chose Nikki Hartman as our photographer. I just have to get the date set and mail in the deposit!

For video, most likely Seth. It was nothing fancy but we just want to have this beautiful day documented forever.

For a DJ, we are considering Jay (Liquid Entertainment) or DJ Roche.

Flowers- Would like to meet up with DSR. I have heard good things.

re: First entry!!!

Hi. I was just bored at work and came across your page.  It's funny b/c I live in Orlando and my wedding date is Feb 21st 2009.  I don't find a lot of weddings that take place in Feb, so when I find someone else who has a Feb wedding date, I think it's interesting!  Anyways, just wanted to say hi.  Good luck!  :)
