16 dresses

OK so not 27 dresses like the movie, but 16 dresses... as in the number of wedding dresses I tried on today. Or at least I think it was 16, but I lost count. So even before the whole dress shopping marathon, I had a meeting with DJ Roche. We met at Borders and he bought me and FI a coffee. He was very talkative, and not just about business. We felt very at ease with him. We probably would've stayed another half hour or so but I had somewhere else to be. Anyway, his prices are great and I am confident he can deliver what we want- a fun party, with everyone on the dance floor. We didn't sign the contract just yet, but I am sure he's the one for the job.
After the meeting, I speeded to Minerva's. Karina was already there. They were having a Sophia Tolli trunk show. I actually hadn't really looked into this designer, but when I called last week to make an appt, they told me about the trunk show and said I should come and check out this designer. She did have some pretty dresses, many with the corset backs which I love. I tried on 4 dresses there. One of them looked really pretty and had the kind of shape I liked, but we did not like the material (organza). it also didn't help that the dress was desperately in need of pressing. I didn't see anything that I really loved there. They didn't have either of the Maggies I was interested in. It also didn't help that they don't tell you the designer, which I don't like. But on the plus side, customer service was great.
Next Karina and I headed to David's Bridal. Let me just say it was overwhelming. Dresses were supposed to be organized by size, which they really weren't. There were just so many to look at. The one dress I really wanted to try on was not available in a 4,6 or 8. We had to drag all the dresses to the fitting room. I know it's Sunday and they were superbusy but really. All the lady did was throw some veils on me. By the end, we had accumulated 3 veils in the dressing room. None of them made me go wow. They were just ok or kinda pretty. We were only there for 45 minutes tops.
After eating lunch, we headed to Demetrios. They had beautiful dresses. The lady who helped me was great. I showed her pictures from some magazines so I got to try on the 3 I was eyeing, plus I found 3 others. One of them I loved had a lace halter and it's new. But they were having a trunk show, which meant that dress was going byebye today, meaning Terri won't be able to see this dress on me. The other one I loved was Demetrios Illusion 3077. This one was also really pretty, but not pretty enough for the pricetag (over $1000), plus $250 to customize the neckline (bc I want sweetheart and this one was straight across).
If anything, this day was helpful bc I realized even more what I like and don't like. For example, not a huge fan of organza. I do like taffeta. And I don't like a lot of tulle on my dress, I think tulle is for veils.
Throughout the day, I kept thinking about the Coco and I still think none stack up, although 2 at Demetrios were close. But when factoring in the price, the Maggie Coco wins. Karina kept saying, I think you're just gonna go with that one anyway. But we had fun trying dresses on. We even saw a fellow CFL knottie at the Demetrios store. It was nice to see someone familiar in a see of brides to be.
After all that (which was very tiring I must add), I stopped by Joann's Fabric to buy materials to make my "Will You Be My Bridesmaids?" cards. I'm going to print a poem inside and present these next weekend when Terri comes. We will all be here in Orlando, going dress shopping. I am planning to treat them to lunch instead of giving them something they won't use (I'm practical) and giving them the cards there. I didn't have time to order "Bridesmaids" tops but I will do that later. That's all for now. I am ready for a nap!
