Bored at work so what better way to pass the time than to update my blog. Well it's been about 3 months since we got engaged. FI and I immediately opened a joint savings account to save up for the big day. I had about $3,000 that I had saved towards a down payment on a house. Well I took that money and put it towards the wedding since FI alreadys owns the condo we live in. 3 months into saving, we will have about $7,400 in our account! I am very proud of all the money we have saved so far. And I think May will be a pretty good month. I hope to add a lot next month. I admit, we are both working like crazy to pay for our wedding. I worked 48 hours this week. I am dreading next week because I have five 12-hour shifts= 60 hours! Good thing two of those days are the easier job... I hope! FI has been doing his regular 40 hours a week. When he's at home, he does freelance work for other people (websites, newsletter design, etc.)
I am getting a little tired but I should be able to take a little breather after the 13th. I reallyyy can't wait for the HM. I love to travel, and basically we have given up vacations during our 14-month long engagement, unless it's somewhere we can drive to or is for any important family events, or is wedding-related. So my next vacation won't be until we leave for St. Lucia on March 2nd, 2009!
Anyway I'm really proud of not just the extra money we've been earning, but we've also done a lot to cut our spending- not eating out much, haven't bought anything from Bebe or Express since December, been watching movies on Netflix instead of going to the movies all the time.
We had a little scare last week. Everyone in FI's department got fired within 2 days. On the 2nd day I was freaking out bc FI texted me and said they fired everyone who was left. So I texted him back and it took him about 30 minutes to reply. That's when he told me... His job offered him 2 positions within the company. So not only did he stay with his company, but they are basically promoting him and he's meeting with the CEO of the company this coming week. :::sigh of relief:::
OK that's it for now. Hoping the next 6 hours of work go by fast...
