Boston can be a very romantic city. Here are some ideas of what to do on Valentine's day 2007:
On a budget: Perhaps the most romantic neighborhood in Boston is the North End. Stroll around Boston's own 'Little Italy' - see the Paul Revere House & the Old North Church, enjoy a romantic dinner at one of the many cozy Italian restaurants, and be sure to stop in to one of the local pastry shops (like Mike's) for some after dinner sweets.
No budget tonight: The Wine Cellar Restaurant, Boston's one and only fondue & wine Restaurant in Boston (located in the beautiful Back Bay) is hosting a Valentine's Day prix fixe dinner. Dine on escargots and rack of lamb, or try the smoked salmon medallions and cheese fondue. The dinner is $75 per person (tax & gratuity not included) with seating times at 5:30pm, 7:30pm, 10:00pm (valet parking is available). www.bostoncellar.com
Who cares if it's packed: You'll want to score reservations early if you want to spend Valentine's Day at one of the most romantic spots in Boston for dinner, The Top of the Hub. The site of many a wedding proposal, and one of Boston's finest dining destinations, the award-winning Top of the Hub features outstanding cuisine and impeccable service. Soaring 52 floors above the Back Bay, the restaurant and adjoining Skywalk Observatory offer a spectacular view of the Boston skyline from every table. www.topofthehub.net
No crowd, please: Want to avoid the crowds on Valentine's Day? Why not have a romantic lobster dinner at home - you can have a lobster dinner shipped right to your home by going to www.bostonlobsterfeast.com. The Valentine's Day special is $89.99, but you can choose from many other dinner options.
Interactive: Want to get out and dance on February 14th? Then reserve your tickets for the Valentine's Day Social Party & Dance at the Hyatt Regency Hotel. Meet new friends, socialize, dance and enjoy live music in an elegant ballroom setting. This party starts at 6:30pm - and buy tickets in advance to save $10 at the door. www.bostoneventguide.com
Super romantic: Do something different this year and surprise your loved one with a super romantic evening at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. Celebrate the night with live jazz, cocktails and pass hors d'oeuvres amidst the courtyard garden, filled with orchids, jasmine and tropical ferns. Tickets are $100/individual or $160/couple. www.gardnermuseum.org
It's us and some friends: For a fun-fllled night of comedy, check out Kathy Griffin at Symphony Hall on February 14th. Tickets range from $32-$42. www.bso.org
