My man and I met at a summer camp and have been inseperable ever since. He proposed in August of 06 and we are to be married in August of 08. I'm attempting to do this on a low budget in the most laid back way possible, but only time will tell how it really ends up.

An idea

I can't believe how fast time is flying by.  I guess it's pretty much time to crack down and start planning, I've been busy settling into my new position at work and well, just generally living my life.  I've gone wedding dress shopping a few times, I am currently in the "do I want a fancy dress or a simple dress" stage of deciding.

I had an idea last night, I don't know if it was a great idea or a silly idea, I figured I'd post it here and see if anyone else has ever tried it.  I don't think that a professional photographer is going to be in our budget, we could hire a student as we live in a college town, so that's still a possibility, BUT last night I thought of this:

What if we encourage all our guests to bring their digital cameras, letting them know that since we aren't hiring a professional that everyone's pictures will be our wedding pictures and ask that they give us copies (digital is fine).  My thought is that if 100 people take photos, there's at least some what of a chance we'll get some nice ones, and pretty much everyone has a digital camera these days, we could end up with thousands of pictures for free.

What do you think?  Have you tried it/know someone who tried it?  Brilliant or insane?

re: An idea

There's a new service that is specifically designed for this, whether you have or don't have a professional photographer.  Its a private social network application that lets your guests bring their cameras and upload and exchange their photos.  http://www.seeyouthen.com
