Where have I been hiding?

No I didn't fall off the face of the earth... but I can't say I've gotten any farther in my wedding planning either...
I'm working on taking it slow... even if it's against every bone in my body. In fact, I am working on re-framing the whole wedding in my mind. At this point it's become a giant mess of uncertianty that seems unsurmountable, what I want it to be is a nice, relaxing day spent celebrating with my family and friends. I can do this. I can do this.
My fiancé is still, uh, let's say he's too busy to give much input, (yet feels the desire to give input, thus nothing is moving forward).
The wedding rings are still up in the air. We went in to the jewler the weekend after we purchased them (here's the link to the ring story if you missed it) and the guy we talked with then hadn't heard the story, promised to look into us and call us by Wednesday... um yeah, that was supposed to be Wednesday February 6th... today is Wednesday February 20th and still no call from them... now it's my turn to contact them... maybe a "friendly" e-mail will do.
I have two questions for which I seek answers for, if you have one or have some input that'd be awesome. 1st, I mailed the caterer my check (like a month and half ago) and they haven't called me yet to set up the menus. Is it my job to contact them, or are they crappy caterers? and 2nd, how many places do you plan to/have you registered at? I was thinking 2 sounded good but then saw a friend registered at 6 places! I would like to regsiter at more than 2, but don't want to seem greedy or anything. How many do you feel is normal? (on the regsitering note, my finacé said he wants to regsiter at Williams and Sonoma, which is only like my favorite place in the world with no prompting from me.)
