Splitting the co-workers

So last night I had to do it. I couldn't put it off any longer. It was time to figure out which of my co-workers I'm going to invite and which I'm not. I can imagine for most people, it isn't very hard, you just don't put them on the list to start with. However, I work in a very social office of about 25 women (yep, only women) and I myself am not in any particular social group, so there are no obvious choices of who to pick and who not.
I sat with a list in front me of all my co-workers and started at the top. I would write each name in another list on a notepad. Each person I would consider the pros and cons of inviting, placing them on one of three lists. People I will not be inviting, people I'd like to invite and people I will invite. I felt like I was in High School again.
There was a time I would have invited everyone, but then they went and hired one of my least favorite people on the planet who I WILL NOT invite. So now it feels meaner to invite everyone but her, so I have to not invite some other people. But if I don't invite them, will they hate me forever? Do they already hate me? Is that why I'm not inviting them? Ugh!
Plus I had to run numbers of people already invited/people already RSVPd/people who probably won't come and see how many co-workers I could invite. Luckily, perhaps, it seems I included most of my co-workers in the inital totals, so there's no limit because of space.
My lists all done, I had about 19 people I wanted to invite and 5 I didn't, that's good enough I guess. I think I'll put them in staff mail boxes later this afternoon, once most people have gone home... so tomorrow the drama will begin...
