They're flying out of an airport that has only 2 daily flights so if one gets cancelled, they could end up waiting until the next day (like today). So I'm hoping right now that the last flight up there tonight takes off (that would be the plane they get on at 6am). That flight has been delayed over an hour because of the nasty thunderstorms here. I really hope it gets off, otherwise I doubt that they'd come down. Keeping my fingers crossed!!!!!

Finished!

My paper is done & turned in!!!!

What a pain the rear! I've forgotten how different writing technical science papers are compared with the education papers I've been writing the past 2 years. My brain got quite the work out.

Time to party now- go out to dinner, have a margarita & come home and start baking for when the IL's come tomorrow!

Any time I get to use my stand mixer is like a party in the kitchen.

What Wink Martindale and *** Clark have in common

It really seems like neither of them age. I have GSN on in the background while I work on my paper. There was an old episode of Tic Tac Dough on and now Wink is hosting GSN live. That's my random thought of the day. Anyway.

I can't wait for March to be finished!

Grad school wise- it has been incredibly busy- chock full of exams, papers, major HW assignments, etc. Combine that with the stresses of teaching 7th graders & the end of the 3rd Q/beginning of the 4th & allergy season- thank goodness the month is almost done. It will mean less attention on grad school/teaching and more on DH.

March 31st will bring:

-a paycheck (I hate getting paid once a month!)

-1 week closer to spring break

& April which will be a very fast month. As far as teaching goes, I always think April goes by the fastest- spring break and then every other waking moment is devoted to trying to teach as much of the rest of the curriculum & reviewing for CRCTs.

Good things that are coming:

-my IL's are visiting this weekend, always good to see them and they love dining out in ATL

-my parents are coming next weekend (more good food & we're going to a Braves-Mets game)

April 8- we're driving to Augusta to go to the Master's practice round. That should be a great day!

Dear The Nest,

Please get your IT department together!

These outages are killing us!

Passing Thoughts

To start off, I'm really glad I didn't enter my March Madness sheet into any office pools. In the 15+ years I've been filling out a bracket, I've never sucked on the gas pipe so poorly in my life. I log onto espn.com just to see that my official ranking is over 3 million. Pathetic. I was really convinced UCLA was going to go down last night just because I had them winning the whole thing!

I've been spending the better part of the weekend writing a paper for one of my grad classes. It's a big mess right now, hopefully it will be more coherent by this evening. What concerns me is that I might give up all together and give in to the temptation of baking cookies instead and helping DH cook our Easter dinner.

In more disappointing news, we were all set to go to my cousin's wedding Memorial Day weekend. Bought our tickets, etc. All along we thought the wedding was on the Sunday. Realized yesterday that no, her wedding is actually on Memorial Day, 5pm reception. End result- we (I) look like complete fools because we had to cancel the whole weekend. We can't get off work on Tuesday to fly back, and the last flight Monday night was at 8pm (basically we would have flown up to watch them exchange vows and then head straight to the airport- 3 hours away). DH told me to take the credit that we got from canceling the original reservation so that I could fly home for her shower instead. The whole thing really stinks though, I'm disappointed that we can't go.

What I have failed to mention recently is that we finally, officially have brand new bedroom furniture! We actually have a grown up bedroom set!!! My broken dresser and DH's 30 year old hand-me-downs have met their final resting place in the garbage. Our bedroom feels like a hotel now (and we got new pillows from Homegoods yesterday to finish everything off!)

Also last weekend we made it through the severe weather here in Atlanta. We were about a 1/2 mile away from the tornado that went through downtown and DH captured some of the damage in pictures. If you'd like to see any of the images they are at: http://itpfoodie.blogspot.com definitely check out the photo of the traffic light. 1/2 of it is facing the wrong direction.

Shocked!

I really can't get over this news about Governor (for now) Spitzer. He was one of the extremely few politicians I still held out hope for. I guess that was my downfall! I never in a million years would have pinned this story on him.

The whole episode is just so embarrassing.

I miss home

Even 2 days later I still can't believe the Giants won the Super Bowl!!! We had a great party for the game and it was amazing to me to watch them win the way they did. I can't wait until the NFL network replays the game Wednesday night to watch that 4th quarter again, it is so surreal.

So I stayed home from work today to be able to watch the ticker tape parade on the NFL network and it's just started but it's so emotional for me. I miss NY so much today (everyday actually but today even more so). I can remember when I was 15 and my dad took me into the city to watch the Rangers' parade after they won the Stanley Cup- that was a great day that we spent together. I know if I was back home today we would have gone in for this parade too. But I sit here in my living room 700 miles away in a city that doesn't have 10% of the sports passion that NY does.

Boy do I miss home.

The end is near

Thank God tomorrow is Friday.
