hope everyone had a happy valentine's day. i did. i made dinner for my sweetheart. i know that this doesn't sound that special, but it is. i rarely make dinner. he is the cook in our house. so, i decided i would make him a feast. i made turkey piadines and a tomato/avocado/fresh mozzarella salad. and i even made dessert! and i made the piadine dough from scratch, as well as the garlic aioli. dessert was rice krispie treats. i think he was impressed.
funny thing is...he made me rice krispie treats too! great minds think alike i suppose. he mentioned the other day that he wanted some rice krispie treats, and i think we were both on the same wavelength. i also gave him some little candies and a lotto bingo scratcher. he gave me a very cute card and some candy too. i think we both appreciated the little gestures of valentine's day.
i am so busy these days. there does not seem like there is any end in sight till april. so, i am chugging along. i have to teach a pharmacokinetics class for some nursing residents next tuesday...and i have i prepared for it? not much. this is something i need to do very soon. also, one of my bosses is super overwhelmed with all the stuff she has to do that i offered to help her come up with some competencies for some of our biggest modules in hospice/palliative care. so, i have to come up with some competencies in pain, adult and pediatric care. good thing that i just had to take another pain competency at another place, so i can get some good ideas from that! why reinvent the wheel? i also told her that i would review two other modules on agitation and methadone, which are about 50 pages long. what am i doing?
i think my main problem is....i am a "yes" person. i don't say no enough. i just constantly say that i will do stuff without thinking twice. i don't stop and look at the big picture, and how that will impact my schedule or free time. i need to work on that more!
so, nz got our paperwork. i guess they are running a few months behind, so we may not hear back from them for 6 months. darn! we will be cutting things close, but we are still on target to flap our wings in october of this year. really, i wouldn't mind staying a little longer, making a few extra bucks and tying up more loose ends before we go. but that is today. tomorrow i might want to pack things up and leave immediately!
one of my college pals turned 30 on february 13th. we are growing up so fast. he is near and dear to my heart. he was married 1 year and 1 week before us. i love that we were both married in october. and i love that he moved from santa barbara to santa cruz on the same week as our wedding, and still was able to fly up to washington for the day to be there to help us celebrate. interestingly enough, we had just gotten back from new zealand as a newly engaged couple the thursday before we drove down to los olivios for their gorgeous wedding.
i better get some work done.
