i feel like i have been MIA lately. i am still busy. i am still working a lot. i feel a little calmer lately. probably b/c i am done with those presentations and i finished those competencies i volunteered to do. also, we are done with that second wedding reception in southern california. and i went to the matchbox 20 concert last night. i was pretty impressed with both alanis morrisette and matchbox 20. they really out on a great show.
so, i have to say that i was a little disappointed with our little mini-vacation to san diego. the weather was gorgeous. and there are plenty of places to eat and shop. i did eat well. but dh and i are not shoppers. so, i actually thought that it was boring. we stayed downtown, just a couple of blocks from the gaslamp quarter. i thought there would be more stuff to do. i guess we should have planned to go to sea world or something. i guess i was thinking that it was more like san francisco, where you can just walk outside and find something to do! oh, and i was thinking that i could read and lay out by the pool. but for some reason, all the water was drained out of the pool at the hotel. wtf? honestly, i am gonna write some reviews about it! anyhoo...that's another story.
the reception was....interesting. awkward is a better word. i saw some of my family that i haven't seen in 15 years. most of the people were strangers to me. some of my cousins didn't even know who i was. so weird. we had a nine course chinese banquet dinner, complete with a slideshow! i know my parents were very happy to have their wedding reception moment.
better than the reception was the surprise bbq we had for my mom's 60th birthday at my uncle's house. it was so nice to sit out by their koi pond in the sunshine eating burgers and such. it was kinda rushed b/c we had to catch our flight back to the bay. and it was so hard to get to work by 7:30 am on monday.
oh some good news. my friend mentioned his new business website on his myspace page, so of course, i had to take a peek, even though i know nothing about real estate development. and he had a personal tab, and i clicked on it. and there was a video of his unborn baby boy! i can't believe that he is gonna be a daddy! i am so happy for him and his wife! we have known each other since we were kids. it is so funny to be growing up.
we have decided to move in with my aunt and uncle at the end of june when our lease is up. it just makes sense. we will be saving so much money in rent and utilities, which is exactly what we need before we make our big move. also, i think it will be nice to have some family time and comfort before we make such a huge change in our lives. so, we have started packing up some stuff and continue to downsize things around here.
